$4.43 for an XL coffee and 2 donuts???? Really??? Well I am starting to think these coffee places are pricing us "ordinary folk" out?? That does seem insane to pay for a cup of hot water and 2 donuts????:wall: I might have to think about giving it up???

I can get a full breakfast and a bottomless cup o' Joe for $8 plus tip!!!

Coffee's a buck, any size, at Mickey D's.

And an Egg McMuffin is actually better for you than a donut (let alone two). I think I read somewhere that an Egg McMuufin with cheese (no sausage) is 270 calories. Don't get the hash brown combo meal. Still under $3.

make it in 2 minutes flat (in microwave)

prolly ten cents per cup
and a container usually lasts a month for 8.99

It can be done. Get backpacking stove, pot, water and one of those "pods" of coffee that make about 3-4 cups. Boil water in just minutes with coffe packet in it. Oh and hot coffee tastes 100 times better when its made far from an electric outlet or kitchen. ;)

My biggest issue with DDs, aside from the coffee tasting like crap, is that you can order two regular coffees and they'll both taste completely different. Don't even bother going to DDs anytime but the morning or you get some burnt liquid that taste like diarrhea.

I never understood people that leave their house in the morning and then make their first stop at DDs to pay $2-4 for garbage. Coffee makers are cheap enough and most come standard with a clock and timer. Set it up the night before and you have hot coffee the moment you get out of bed in the morning. Buy a nice, double-chamber thermos and you'll have hot coffee all day that tastes like you just made it.

Agreed. I only drink my coffee black and people sometimes look at me funny. If you drink good coffee that is freshly made (with fresh beans), cream and sugar just ruins it.

I've always felt people add milk and sugar to cover up the taste. Not to mention the people that order "Light, with extra sugar". Why even bother at that point?

Aren't all the donuts made in Abington at Cadete Enterprises and delivered all over Eastern Mass.

she says to me "what box"?

the one that said CAMPING ON IT!, i yell

i thought you packed it she explains....:wall:

so now we have coffee and creamer
but no way to heat up the water.. :hs:

later ......
i'm starting to feed the dog and in the
dog food bag there was a stainless steal measuring cup
used as a scoop.....

so i built a hot fire and heated one cup of water at a time
Luckily we had coffee cups with us at least...

that was the best tasting cup of coffee i can remember
and we used that little measuring cup all weekend. :grins:

I didn't know who makes them or where they are made, but the crullers taste like those Little Debbie's glazed crullers now and they lost me as a regular customer who used to count on them for 2 large iced a day. On the rare occasion I do get a coffee it's Honey dew or McDonald's now. Their microwave sandwiches are a waste of money also and I won't ever buy a way over priced colatta which I understand cost them 20 cents for a large and they charge $4.00:yak5:. Starbucks will never see me either because I'm a cheap bass turd who expects value not gouging.

When I used to get the ham egg and cheese sandwich they used a bowl and a magic box that cooked the egg in a bowl, ham was put on a cardboard pan with a metallic side much like the ones used for Celesta microwave pizza and then put in the magic box. Much the same way I used to cook scrambled eggs on the boat using a microwave. Maybe they have stopped using a microwave now but I stopped going there long ago.
The coolatta is cream, ice and coffee with a squirt of syrup, all of which they use in massive quantities so they can get all the ingredients allot cheaper than we at home can. So the most expensive ingredient is the cream, let say 50 cents for all the ingredients, still $4 for a large the last time I was there so they might even be more now. Here is a recipe for people to try at home:

Just like every other quick service restaurant, Dunks has everything pre-made, then prepared when its ordered. If you want it fast, there has to be a compromise. I don't eat many of the products myself but a lot of people do and seem to think they're good.

Ed, I can assure you that the coolatta is more expensive to make than you think. If you ever want to learn how its done and see the real cost to a franchisee, come visit me at work.

In Abington on route 123 across from J.P.s' Homestyle Turkey restaurant is a Dunks. It used to be Honey Dew and before that it was a coffee shop that was run by a greek kid that showed up every morning at 2 a.m. and they started making the donuts. used to go in there at 4 a.m. when I worked the midnight to 8 shift for twelve long god damn years and get a black coffee and two fresh plain crullers. No he never charged me because I used to stay for awhile and when I was there he never had any trouble with the drunks who stayed out till the 2 a.m. bar closing. Those were the last best donuts I ever ate with a close second being just cooked and dipped honey galzed.
