How long after trout stocking do the fish start to bite? I think it was stocked on wednesday. I did see a heron take one yesterday. They were browns if that makes a difference.

stocked trout are not the brightest bulbs in the water...1/2 the time you can toss a line 1/2 hr after the truck leaves and limit out. I think they are actually tougher to get the longer they are in. Figure the hatcherys use nasty liver pellets to feed them, a worm or a shiny lure is probally pretty good looking to them.

Pretty much immediately......There are guys that pretty much chase the trucks around

they are definitely early morning and or early evening feeders
and prefer to feed off the bottom specifically worms
or power bait....

the other species will readily take a spotted brown rooster tail
spinner gold blades on sunny days and silver blades (spoons)
on rainy days... requiring many casts....
they smash the smallest rapala swimmer when trolling

I like fishing the browns at sundown. I have all kinds of smaller trout lures but usually end up with a small brass spoon like the Thomas rough rider or luhr jensen krocodile. I use a little lift fall action. Browns can definetly become educated and very difficult to catch.
