turns out the caliper seized and it became red hot because it took me at least 20 minutes hosing it down to cool it off

I've had this problem repaired before and it has returned with a vengence....:wall: the sh1t just never ends.

just before i got home i turned down this little road to check for fishing access on "home turf" and this little kid is all teary eyed saying "NO"
to his Dad sitting in the car....then because he was VERY upset he walks away quickly (bolting) across the street without looking for on coming cars and had i not been watching him very closely i woulda ran him right over.

i thank my lucky stars i wasn't driving fast :confused:

The shoes tend to get stuck on one of my rear disc breaks. Was that way since the vehicle was new (i bought it used ( 2 year old program car) but upon doing the break job on it I saw that the inside pad had never touched the rotor in the Blazer's 7 year lifetime). Just one wheel does this. Even after redoing the breaks and playing around to prevent it re freezing and undoing it again after t did seize up again and redoing , it still intermottently gets stck (better than full time stuck and at least now it will let go when stuck if I hit the brake pedal really hards). Next time I dig into it I will try filing the opening in the yoke just a little and using some grease on the shims.

Anyway , sorry for your miseries Raven , things do tend to happen when you least want them to!

Sometimes calipers don't handle being "repaired" well. Did you replace them with remans? Or just free them up with liberal amounts of lube? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't Just happens. I had a caliper sieze on my truck a few years ago. Had to replace.

The more frequently you go through brakes, the more opportunity to properly lube the sliders, the better you are on brakes, the more rare the lube.

they told me awhile ago
that it was the inner lining of the brake fluid hose peeling off
allowing fluid to go only in one direction :huh:

Is it wasn't junk from the heat of the caliper being stuck,
after hosing it down for 20 minutes you can add a junk rotor to the repair list with the caliper.

Grand Caravans have too much vehicle weight
to get them to stop in sufficient time....or distance...

I replace everything Possible every damn time!

that way when you Have to stop your able to....

When I needed new rotors and pads on my F150, I just pushed the caliper pistons back in like I've done for 35 years, and cleaned and lubed the other components. Set off to go on a hunting trip and seized a caliper within 15 miles from home. Freed it up with a pry bar, stopped at NAPA, got two rebuilt calipers and a jug of brake fluid, and 3 hours later was on the road again. The pistons get weathered by the salt, sand, and water and don't slide as well as they did when new.

honda calipers are the worst for seizing. Only sorta chronic problem I have come across with Hondas

feels so different driving around with brake not on...:wall:

has now happened on my wife's car

so now .............it begins again.... :fury:

one day after getting my car back from the shop

un freakin real :doh:

replace the calipers, rotor and pads

just a brake line this time....

then the next day
wife's car has a gasoline leak
at work.....

A slow drip but just enough
that security was notified
and i had to go quickly "fetch it "
outta there
to end any further concern

Now she has to submit paper work
showing that it was repaired :hs:

things have been just "insane"
car wise the last couple of weeks.:confused:
