Time to defend The Cup! Looking forward to these playoffs. Do not want to look past Washington but Pittsburgh looks to be the biggest hurdle in the East with The Rangers close to as tough.

The Capital's goaltending situation is their weakest link and I am gonna say Bruins in 5. Gotta try to avoid multiple 7-game series this time around. Look for Bergeron to get series MVP.

Horton out for entire playoffs...that's not gonna help.

Hope Washington chokes again. Their coach is as gutless as they come. The Capitals also have some Steroid distractions right now, check this out……..

Hopefully the B’s get by them and Pitt/Philly beat each other up. That is going to be a physical series……..

That article is from 2010. Has the steroid talk resurfaced?

fishbones, you are right! My bad. On 98.5 last night on my way home they were talking about the steroid issues with Washington for a good 30 min. The way I heard it was that the case was opened back up. I googled that story and didn’t look at the date. I can't find any new news on it so I guess they were talking on 98.5 about 2010 not 2012!! Thanks for clarifying that and sorry for the "mislead"

The story may be old but steroid use has lingering effects. Perhaps their balls are still all shrunk up :hihi:

One down!

15 to go!

Bruins outplayed them throughout most of the game. Obvious that the Caps were content to play defense and hope for a break to win the game. It almost worked. How many times does that happen when one team dominates but cannot score and the outplayed team gets a late-lucky goal and steals a game? Glad to see the B's avoided that outcome last night and ya gotta believe that if they continue to use that strategy, the Caps are going be playing golf much sooner than later cuz the B's will certainly start getting a few of those bouncing pucks to go in.

I'll say it again- there is NO better sporting event than playoff hockey!

well played game! great checking on both sides! should've been at 3-0 b's - puck did'nt bounce our way all night. never seen so many pucks on the ice right in front the the caps net, i was afraid that the caps may steal one. playoff hockey is the bestest!!!

I watched a playoff game about 10 yrs ago with a buddy, been a hockey fan ever since. Unfortunately the sleep lab at the hospital didn't have the proper channels, but they did have national geographic with a bf tuna show that was cool. Go B's

Lucic a cry baby? Really? He didn't have his best game last night but he was still working where the trench work often needs to get done, away from the puck. I can't wait till the next game now. I think this will turn into a mini philly-pitt game 3. I just want to see Lucic drop the gloves on the opening drop and get it out of the way, don't care if wash takes the early lead.

I'll take it as well but there were too many give-aways. The break-away goal to tie it late cannot happen again.

Backstrom getting suspended for hitting Pevs after the final horn could be very costly to the Caps.

So now we have a best of three. Who would've thunk it? Every game has been tight and I gotta believe it could go either way. Yes, the B's have dominated play a good chunk of the time but the Caps have had the answer in net and last night the ffffing refs did everything possible to assure a long series with two bogus calls on Boychuck and Bergeron. Not taking adavantage of their only power play (and on any power play this series) does not help the cause. It was not easy last year and it looks like if it's gonna happen again this year, it will be more of the same. I hope my heart is strong enough!

I guess we now know why it is so difficult to repeat. The FFFFING Refs will not let it happen. What a BOGUS call in the last three minutes of a tie game! I can understand calling a game tight but that was re-ffffing-diculous! Disgusting.

The Bruins are once again in a playoff battle for their lives and all folks wanna talk about around here is the pathetic Red Sox?

I'll get around to commiserating about them later this summer, hopefully after the B's repeat!

Game 7 Prediction- Bruins 4, Caps 1

When the B's turn it on they're doing fine...the issue I see is consistent output.

caps were more physical, better disciplined, and played smothering d. they sucked the b's into that type of hockey the whole series and deserved to win. caps game plan was perfect. b's skating was a 1/2 stride off and and they did'nt finish checks for a good part of the series. recipe for disaster.

waiting for the Patriots :grins:

Congrats to the Caps. Hugely disappointing, so glad I did not find tickets (was there when they lost in a game 7 OT against Carolina 2 years ago)

I hope Holtby stays hot and they keep winning.

We were just too beat up this year and could not bring enough O. I wish we had Horton (and Savard) We could not advance too far even if we won last night.
Also TT was good but not like last season.

They peaked too early in the season. Holtby was H U G E in net for them.

Still a solid performance, no complaints. They could use a rest.

It is now officially summertime and I can break free of hockey for a while. (My wife said..."Thank GOD! its over!!! I don't think I could take another hockey season like last year") I will probably only watch the final series.

Sad ending. This series should not have been that close. Hot Goalie I guess.

Good Luck to the Caps. Who knows , maybe they win it all this year.

imo holtby was good but not great, most of our shots weren't quality scoring opps just rubber into holtby.

Yeah, there weren't a lot of real tough ones last night especially. His defense blocked a lot of shots and he also kept himself in good position to make the stops. A lot of Thomas' great saves are because he gets aggressive and ends up out of position and then has to make the spectacular looking ones.

It was a great series to watch, even with the loss last night. I have trouble hating the Caps though. It's so much easier to hate the Flyers or Pens.

Bergeron’s (upper body/abdominal) injury was apparent last night. He didn’t take many face-offs and it really hurt in the end
Krejci couldn’t win any face-offs last night
Lucic sucked all series
Power Play was even worse than last year and pretty much non-existent
Horton and McQuaid being out was a big factor as well

It’s too bad, with Pittsburg and Vancouver (and maybe New York & Florida tonight) being out of the hunt, there may have been a better chance to make another run this year.

Sorry for your loss, B's fans. It would have been fun to have another series. But the Caps win means that we can't face the Rangers until the finals at the earliest, which is huge. Ideal situation is that Ottowa wins tonight, knocking Lundqvist out, and a Devils win that gives us home ice advantage the rest of the way.

Now let the rest vs rust talk start...

no mention of holtby? That guy was awesome, a real douche, but an awesome goalie. The Bs couldnt get to him. Every game was the same. Capitals deserved to win.

The whole series was such a grind. It was brutal to watch. Always 4 or 5 defenders in front of the net. No room to move. No room to shoot. The Caps were disciplined and it paid off. Nothing like like the Flyers series
