Send a "reminder" bill and add a LATE FEE to grab their attention!

If they can do it you sure as hell can...

Always get paid from the homeowner and let them get paid from the insurance company. I don't play that game anymore.

NF - remind the insurance company that the homeowner has a "duty to mitigate" after storm damage. In a nutshell, there is a well settled area of insurance law that states a property owner has a duty to mitigate further damage to property after storm damage. For instance if a storm damages a roof - a homeowner has a responsibility to cover it with a tarp (or pay someone to do it) to prevent further damage by rain.

It is rare - but companies in rare instances of serious neglect have denied claims when reasonable measures could have avoided further damage.

Insurance companies are no worse than any other business - people bitch about contractors screwing them over all the time too - doesn't mean all of them are bad, all of the time :rtfm:
