OOOOOOOOOOHHH, I sense an early winter plugs versus eels debate in the making...Its been a while, but I'm feeling pretty sharp.
Numbskull's been dormant too long and he's gotta be ready to blow....:rumble: :laugha:

Night tides coupled with favorable winds and a small if not non existent moon.

Schoolies?!!! I wish. All I catch on my plugs these days is sea weed. But if you pm me the name of some of the restaurants your friends deal with, maybe there's a market for that as well. Thanks.

Don't feel bad George, us lowly elver slingers aren't faring much better. But hey, I'm snagging a lot of mussels..they have to be worth something too.

I had to resort to poppers this weekend and fish days just to get a bend in my rod.

good to hear the mussel bite has been hot :hee:

Unfortuantely I live too far from the ocean to be picky....I go when I can and cherish every moment. If it happens to be a favorable tide, moon, wind etc than I consider that the icing on the cake!

granted tides, wind, and time mean allot but i think time on the water far out weighs anything else.

Just yesterday I was able to drop off a rack from a nice fish to the local Asian Market. I was rewarded with pad thai, house fried rice, chicken wings and spring rolls. I chased it down with two different Thai beers to boot. On the house, although I was reluctant to accept but the owner said"you feed me,I feed you." There was a time when getting rid of the rack was the biggest hassle in keeping a fish, now I feed the family, the neighbors and then get Thai food to boot.Perhaps they would trade you in kind for your seaweed Georgie. Maybe use it for spring rolls.
Otherwise , as DZ said you would knock on some doors in RI. I would provide you the spots but I have heard you preach on several occasions that you enjoy the hunt more than the reward. I wouldn't try to deny you the fun Georgie.

To me ,, ,, , A VERY CLOSE tie to what matters most in where the fish will be, is where they were the night before, pending the weather variables haven't changed much. A small network of fishing friends goes a L-O-N-G way. Other than that, being FAR from rich, I go when I can, not when everything is PERFECT,,,, whatever that is. :as:

current is all you gotta worry about

After giving up boat fishin 2 seasons ago and finally taking the time to fish locally hard on all tides, winds and moons, I have narrowed this year down to about 12 spots that I have learned and figured out with pretty good results.\. As The Apprentice will tell ya'll, I live and die by the tides and WIND. Where I fish changes each night based upon where the tide is gonna be right for which spot (incomin; out goin) and most importantly, which spot will be fishable with eels that nights particular WIND. The distant 3rd is the moon. If it is bright, I fish my 3 deeeeep water spots. darka and I fish shallow areas. The canal is another story. As Back Beach has taught me the ways of the Eldridge Tide Book, As It is all about how strong \big the tides are. The bigger the faster the current, the better the eelin.
All this and still I figure each night where I am goin, show up, conditions are PERFECT (by fisherman standards) and the fish ain't there...........Lady Luck is the most important factor........

I don't keep a log in the general sense, but I know, from the years of doing this thing we do, that some areas in the Fall will be more productive than say mid season. :)
