Availability and convenience is about the only they have going for them. cha-ching! |
That came off a little negative sounding.....I think I might need more coffee.......off to Dunks!:rotf2:

The coolatta is cream, ice and coffee with a squirt of syrup, all of which they use in massive quantities so they can get all the ingredients allot cheaper than we at home can. So the most expensive ingredient is the cream, let say 50 cents for all the ingredients, still $4 for a large the last time I was there so they might even be more now. Here is a recipe for people to try at home: How to Make a Dunkin Donuts Coffee Coolatta at Home | eHow.com |

Just like every other quick service restaurant, Dunks has everything pre-made, then prepared when its ordered. If you want it fast, there has to be a compromise. I don't eat many of the products myself but a lot of people do and seem to think they're good.
Ed, I can assure you that the coolatta is more expensive to make than you think. If you ever want to learn how its done and see the real cost to a franchisee, come visit me at work. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
i go in to order a regular french vanilla coffee
and the manager is standing there watching over his newest protege "I'll have a french vanilla regular coffee medium size please" , i said she says to me: "is that with cream and Sugar?" i said, "yup!" " regular means cream and sugar..." she turns and looks puzzled at the manager who's grinning now because i am too... then he gives me the NOD nod , wink wink shes a winner ain't she :point: look and i grinned even wider.....which pleased her very much |
Last of the real good donuts
In Abington on route 123 across from J.P.s' Homestyle Turkey restaurant is a Dunks. It used to be Honey Dew and before that it was a coffee shop that was run by a greek kid that showed up every morning at 2 a.m. and they started making the donuts. used to go in there at 4 a.m. when I worked the midnight to 8 shift for twelve long god damn years and get a black coffee and two fresh plain crullers. No he never charged me because I used to stay for awhile and when I was there he never had any trouble with the drunks who stayed out till the 2 a.m. bar closing. Those were the last best donuts I ever ate with a close second being just cooked and dipped honey galzed.
