Thanksgiving Menus
The traditions thread is great but I think a menu thread will stand on its own merits. What is yor menu and don't leave out the little family dishes that are requirements and start fights if they are not there. Also the desrts are a must for the list.

Turkey with homemade stuffing.
Home made bread. Home made cranberry sauce. Mashed potatoes. Creamed Brussel Sprouts (on which I usually pass). Home made pies (pumpkin and pecan). The only thing that comes out of a can is the crushed pumpkin for the pies, since it's easier to work with and actually tastes better than fresh pumpkin. |
I haven't put together a menu yet...but rest assured it will be epic, it always is :hihi:

Turkeys always made but NEVER reaches my plate. Being Portugeeez, we have quite the buffet line, and I prefer other things to turkey. Turkey will be eaten all week, why eat it on Thursday? :bl:

Our Thanksgivings always consist of at LEAST 20 people. And there is always a 2nd sitting after the power nap and short visits to spousal parents. |
OYSTERS. Welfleet Oysters. Going to pick up 50 of em tomorrow.
Raw. all Raw. Accompaniments will be Lemon Cocktail Tabasco Horseradish Minunet (sp?) Sauce Wine. That is our thanksgiving traditional meal. [for those who won't eat the oysters we will have all the boring old crap like turkey, stuffing, etc...] |
It's heartening to see the similarities we have with each other and on the other hand the interest and curiosity what others make has piqued. Thanksgiving is hands down my favorite holiday, bar none (except maybe TCTFFN). We're keeping it small this year, but no less traditional as my cousin Oceanus would have wanted.
