Hummers

Big trucks, bad on gas I think.

BigFish 01-28-2006 07:14 AM

And ugly! Got to be foolish to spend so much on such a gas guzzling eye sore!!!! Think of all the hummas or ham ass you could buy!:uhuh:

PI guy 01-28-2006 07:33 AM

Mmmmmmm........ham ass............

afterhours 01-28-2006 07:57 AM

i like hummers.......:hihi:

Raider Ronnie 01-28-2006 08:08 AM

Gas???
Every one I've seen, and I've worked on a few
are diesel!!!!:fishslap:

Fishpart 01-28-2006 08:31 AM

They have thier purpose. What other vehicle can go into the maneuver box with M1s nd M2s and make it out under their own power?? How many other vehicles can pull a 1 1/2 ton military trailer or get dropped from the sky and survive??

Beyond that the ones I have been in are uncomfortable noisy and drafty, bu tthey do have good radios... Can't see much use outside what they were originally built for....

Hummers are good as long as you're not buying one.

What afterhours said...:laughs:

The H2 (or whatever that giant incapable thing is) is definitely gas and a joke as an off-road vehicle. Basically it's a Tahoe or Suburban skinned to look sort of like a real military Hummer. More or less a toy for the uh, phallically inadequate.

Here's a couple H2's in action:

weak front end

and

stuck on a tiny tree stump

A real Hummer is a totally different vehicle.

Flaptail 01-28-2006 11:57 AM

Whilst looking for a new sand sled I checked out the H3 and Nissan XTerra. The H3 has 8 inches of ground clearance at the transfer case while the Xterra had 9 inches. I have bought nothing as yet as Mama won and got a brandy new Honda Accord somehow.
Nevertheless, If I was going to buy right now it would be the XTerra but if I wait one more year Toyota is introducing a scaled down version of it's old landcruiser in the same price range as the Xterra with more head and leg room and 9.5 inches of clearance, an important factor in beach riding to me.

That new Toyota is what I have my eyes on as well. I'll be taking a good look at that truck as well as the new '05+ Tacomas when I retire my '01 Tacoma.

Vehicle.........

Hummers..........hmmmmm!:ss: :walk: my ride!

Thom 01-28-2006 12:54 PM

I will take my old Milk truck over a Hummer anyday of the week. That thing had a least 14 inches of ground clearence more storage that you would ever need and a creeper gear that was good for about 5 mph. Took that truck threw some bigtime snow and drifts never once did even come close to getting stuck. air down the duel wheels in the back and it would go threw the sand very well Im guessing. Thomt

Problem is that you can't buy a real hummer anymore. The original hummers were real hummers, but since GM took them over they are all just pickups dressed to look mean.

UserRemoved1 01-28-2006 04:11 PM

Four words.

Quigley GMC Diesel Van

You look down on Hummers :jump:

Duramax diesel and 4L85 Tranny, 460 foot lb torque

My new GMC will look similar to this Chevy but without the windows.

And what Don said too :eyes:

NIB 01-28-2006 06:52 PM

An for a real truck buy a Ford.
Looks like that chevy is leakin oil already.

UserRemoved1 01-28-2006 07:27 PM

lol NIB too bad Sportsmobile lost the contract for Quigley GMC vans. They are being made exclusively by someone else now. Shame cuz this new 6.6 diesel kicks Ford's butt big time. I used to be a Ford guy though :)

MAC 01-28-2006 07:44 PM

Hummer...what other vehivle will climb 60 degrees? (the H1) They are big and interior room is small for the vehicles size.

You are guessing right, Thom :D

A picture of my friend Buddy's old Milk truck, Grumman Van, two wheel drive, air it down, (front and rear), thing went everywhere, I remember him going around two (4X4) buggys that were stuck in the track, pulled out, crossed track, cut a new track by them, then pulled back in... No Problems... was a real neet rig, wish I'd bought it, when he gave it up.

seabass 01-28-2006 08:06 PM

I love hummers, even Jeff Gordon loves hummers. :jester:

Mr. Sandman 01-28-2006 08:26 PM

I like them too. The problem is my wife does not want to be seen in one. It is too high profile for our lifestyle. But an awesome vehcile. During the test drive, several people were eyeballing and pointing at us. (I told my wife it was me they were pointing at...they just think I am so good looking ) ...that didn't fly. Also, the ride is kinda course and a little loud, even in the H2 I thought. The H1 is insane. I love the look though. I would get the snorkel accessory and if they made a turret I would get that too:rotf3: The ground clearance is outragous! I think it was over 16"

(You really don't purchase that with mpg in mind)...

Hummerdaddy

My dream Limo anyone want to invest.

Swimmer 01-29-2006 09:37 PM

Hummers

I remember my first hummer! It had accesories galore. I think just about every possible aftermarket bolt on accesory known to man had been added to the body. The chassis had been tightened. The body had been reworked and it was filled with top grade stuff, no bondo on my hummer. It had those new headlights that blind you when you look at them too long. You know those headlights that your willing to pay almost anything for. The seats had been covered with custom made threads too. No cheap chit from Walmart or a Cabela's catalog hiding the goodies. The rear bumper was very sturdy and had been reinforced so you could hitch almost anything to the back end. Anywhere my hummer went when it was new it stopped traffic. Even now during the winter when the shine gets a little lackluster my hummer is an eyeturner. I also have a YUGO.....:bl2:
