Finaddict 08-22-2006 08:26 PM

do what they did with the gulls ...

Why doesn't the town do what they did to the seagulls that were nesting on Monomoy several years back to make room for the terns ... I read in the Globe that seagulls were dropping out of the sky dead all over the place ... at least that is what I remembered ... seems like there is not enough food around to support this crowd ...

MrHunters 08-22-2006 08:30 PM

ill take my two residents in the harbor thanks..

man oh man.

capesams 08-22-2006 08:32 PM

these little cuties line up behind the seal watch boat's watching for their hand out's...yees their hand fed.

Finaddict 08-22-2006 08:37 PM

What about predators

What about all the sharks?

capesams 08-22-2006 08:42 PM

the only sharks out there are the seal watch boats making a killing.

JohnR 08-22-2006 08:50 PM

Wow. Is the air force still flying out of Otis? If so, it seems a shame to make them fly all the way to Nomans when that's available closer to home for a strafing run.

I'll make some sandwich spread outta this stuff, and will glady ride on the stern and hand feed them for ya!

one word NAPALM:gorez:

lurch 08-23-2006 07:50 AM

If you look closely I think one is laying on a plovers nest...Mayube we should make a call to the bird lovers as they will be able to get rid of the seals.

Striperknight 08-23-2006 08:36 AM

Where's my club?:fishslap:

so are you gonna get your captains license soon and put the ol seacrapper into biz and compete with the other seal watches?
those pictures are disturbing:conf: :bc: :crying:
Lurch, I think you are right, one of them squashed some plovers, better get on that quick.

in a few more years we won't have to worry, because all their food will have been eaten and they will leave seeking out new places, then it will be other's problem. I wonder what will happen when they start showing up in Edgartown harbor and start lounging around on the boats and sink them like the seals are doing in California?

Mike P 08-23-2006 08:54 AM

They've been off Wasque for years. There's a little "no name" island out in the shoals that used to be covered with them. From shore--looked like rocks. With glasses---seal city.

Sluggoslinger 08-23-2006 08:57 AM

The scary thing is thats a fraction of what we have in Chatham. They are EVERYWHERE!!!

Monomoy point: yup
Inside the Southway: Yup
Outside the Southway: Yup
Pleasant Bay: Yup
All along south monomoy: Yup

We're not talking about a couple harbor seals, we're talking each group with a mimimum size of 50 seals and some way way larger. I don't know why the sharks haven't come to our all you can eat buffet...

BTW does anyone know if the bass fishing still sucks in chatham or has it picked back up yet? I haven't been out in 2 weeks due to having way to much going on. I want to get out this weekend though.

Skitterpop 08-23-2006 09:14 AM

Capesams..... how recent are these photos?

I did a date/seal watch in 99? Guy said about 1500 in a breeding colony then....now I`ve heard estimates to 10,000 seals Grey and Harbor...

We need that scientist from Jurrassic Park to clone a 30 pack of giant Megalodon Sharks to clean up these seals. They are definitely out of control and strongly off setting natures balance.

My son went up on an aerial tour from the chatham airport for his b-day (big 2-1) yesterday, so those pics are yesterday's, hot off the presses.

The Dad Fisherman 08-23-2006 10:05 AM

I think we need to start an Ethnical Diversity program and try and bring up the Eskimo Population in Mass....they'd take care of them.

choggieman 08-23-2006 10:13 AM

Think its time to start a great white stocking program!

Casper 08-23-2006 10:22 AM

Why not suggest that they move the M.V. monster shark tournament to Chatham. What we need is more shark chum dropped in those waters.
