energy drinks

I'll use Red bull as an example-

who drinks them before a night out in the suds??

After a long day at work, I drank one around dinner time thinking i was going to fish tonight , but something came up and i am home and I am amped.. If i didn't drink it, i would probably be asleep right now..

my thoughts on these drinks is that they do give me energy while I am fishing, but they really help me in the mornings after a late night fishing. I usually wake up with out what I call " the fishing hang over"

so who drinks em and why?? Are they worth it?

cheferson 07-26-2007 10:40 PM

Always have at least one. Definetly keep me going through the night after working all day on my feet. I like the sobe and some other jeff gordon 24 citrus ones. Hess station has them for 2 for $2.50 :rtfm: some tap water in a bottle, a multi vitamin and some caffeine pills ( $5 for a hundred) works just as good though

Notaro 07-26-2007 11:17 PM

try XS drinks. google it up. its healthier and better than red bull

Nebe 07-26-2007 11:41 PM

arrrrrg. why did i drink this stuff :wall:

RickBomba 07-26-2007 11:47 PM

I'm with chef,
Sobe Adrenaline sugar free, used to buy it by the case!
Drink one on the way into work every day, then one about 6 pm...Definately drink them if I'm gonna be up for the nite.
Rick

u re up, why dont u head out and fish?

DZ 07-27-2007 06:51 AM

Nebe,
I drink them only when the bite is good and I want to stay out longer. I never start the night out with one unless I know I'll be fishing for a long while. They're like legal speed. I still like them better than dropping no-doze tablets on Block in the 80s.

monster/rockstar/amped... goooooood stuff

BrianS 07-27-2007 07:06 AM

Personally, I like redbull anyway, but I drink one in the middle of a trip when I feel myself fading (having a baby has killed my stamina unless I prepare for it)...

I will give those XS drinks notaro mentioned a shot...

but if you want something REALLY evil.... though not an energy drink.. Try some of these

I am an AMP guy. Use it before my hockey games and before a late night tide. Stuff really works for me.:musc: :musc:

RIJIMMY 07-27-2007 07:54 AM

I love them, ask parker 23!
My favorite is the Target brand, sugar free, grapefuit flavor. Awesome. I take them for late nights and early mornings. Usually i dont want to waste time and make coffee early in the morning so I have one before heading out.

goosefish 07-27-2007 08:19 AM

I've made the same mistake. Usually I'll fish and then come home and then I'll have trouble getting to sleep; if there's a women next to me then I'll try and wake her--sometimes I find that lovemaking will help settle my nerves and put me to sleep.

JFigliuolo 07-27-2007 08:24 AM

When I drink them they make me shakey on the rocks my balance gets dodgey. Like DZ I try to limit my intake...

thats some damned good energy drink.
i drink them when i can. as i have been getting exhausted while fishing. but if the fish are biting i don't need em. it's those long nights of "i'm not leaving till i hook one" that i need em. ofcourse we all know that never happens. every fish ya hook = 1/2 to an hour more of fishing. ;)

You should of had a couple of scotches when you got home....you'd have been asleep in an hour.

Better living through Chemistry.......I do the Rockstar Juiced ones myself. One when I head out and if its an all-nighter another around 2-ish

ThrowingTimber 07-27-2007 09:44 AM

Did the monster green drinks for awhile, always felt dehydrated the next day and went like a race horse.

Did the ones tdf mentioned the orange cans those are pretty good mellow sugar/ caf. I try not to take them at all and make up for it in the am with a few cups of coffee, if I'm into fish I dont need caffeine to keep me awake, also like goose said come home, shower, get a lil hibbidy dibbity goin and Im out like a light zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz:humpty:

I was sent a few packs of "Energy Drink" by a member last month that I'm determined to try next week. You add these packs to bottled water. It looks interesting as it is much more natural based than the typical canned energy drinks.

I'll let you know my findings ;)

Steve K 07-27-2007 11:07 AM

I drink redbull before I go out. It definitely helps.

Clogston29 07-27-2007 11:18 AM

for an all nighter on a friday after working all day:

large starbucks ice coffee (black) on the ride up
Sugar free redbull and a snack, trailmix or something) at around 1 am
Sugar free redbull for the ride home (1 hr ride)
crack a beer when I get home (usually only finish about 3/4 of it)
wake up, hydrate, do it again

Nebe 07-27-2007 11:18 AM

*yawn*...... went to sleep around 3:30 am.. then my cat jumped on me around 4 and then my kid jumped in bed to snuggle around 6:30..

I feel fine now but had a rough rough morning- felt like Jim from taxi :hihi:

Nebe 07-27-2007 11:19 AM

I think i will do what DZ does- keep one in the truck for emergencies..

bart 07-27-2007 12:38 PM

i live off of caffeine free sobe adrenaline and red bull, the big ones. sometimes if i know i'm gonna stick it out at spot for a whole tide i'll pound 2 right off the bat. that usually does the trick

The Iceman 6 07-27-2007 01:10 PM

Red Bull for me. More to keep me awake when driving home after all night of fishing.

I get my energy from the food I eat.
Anyone that knows me, knows I like my food.
I drink water.
