Christmas Lights

Isn't it time to turn them off? I love the holidays as much as the next guy, but this is freakin' ridiculous! Someone on my street still has them turned on on January 30th. Is ther some rule of thumb for this?

BigFish 01-31-2010 08:12 AM

Pathetic! I have to stare at my neighbors icicle lights all year long as they can't take a ladder and 10 minutes and take them down!!!! It kind of ticks me off to have to look at them as the mercury hits 95 degrees in August!

stcroixman 01-31-2010 10:43 AM

you guys are right on the money with this one. It also takes away from the special time frame of the holidays.

JohnnyD 01-31-2010 11:26 AM

Christmas lights should only be up fro the day after Thanksgiving until New Years Day. Both are days that most people have off from work.

Seeing Christmas stuff starting in October through Valentine's Day is maddening.

basswipe 01-31-2010 11:48 AM

As of lastnight the people at the bottom of the street my dad lives on still have up icicle lights all the way around the house!

Backbeach Jake 01-31-2010 02:46 PM

JD, go to Pulaski and fish the Salmon RIver, they keep them up all
year, with annual snow falls of somethin around 300 inches, what
else do they have to do? :D

fishbones 02-19-2010 09:07 PM

WTF! The people on my street finally took down their lights last weekend. Tonight, I'm driving through Canton and not only do I pass 3 houses with lights on, the town still has the trees along Washington St. downtown lit up. It's almost Easter!

Charleston 02-21-2010 10:17 PM

The 12 days of Christmas end on January 6th?????? I think.

Raider Ronnie 02-22-2010 06:16 AM

I've got a few neighbors with the lights still up & on.

JohnnyD 02-22-2010 10:27 AM

One of my neighbors just took down their lights from christmas.

Now, from about 6pm on, their entire front yard glows green with St. Patty's Day lights.

EarnedStripes44 02-25-2010 12:10 AM

I guess I should take the wreath on my door down....

Rockfish9 02-25-2010 02:21 PM

It doesnt bother me all that much... but it bothers my wife to no end...they are one of the few things that will cause her to drop an "F" bomb... VERY RARE...

So, I've been noticing that a house on route 28 in Bridgewater still has the inflatable light up holiday decorations in their yard. I drive by every Friday night on the way to my son's soccer game and sometimes during the week if I go over my friends house. I'm heading down that way again tonight. If they're still up, I'm gonna try to get a picture of them. It's freikin 80 degrees outside! I don't get it.
