The "It's On!" early season large challenge

Everybody's foaming at the mouth for the first large migrant fish. We'll get a few here and there until May 15th or so, then things should break wide open for numbers in the RI/Se Mass area, just like it always does.

Here's how to play:

1. Contest runs April 18 until Memorial Day.

2. Largest shore caught striped bass takes the cake.

3. You must provide sufficient proof of your catch such as a photo and/or weight slip. Use a scale if you have it or tape measure to add credibility if you release the fish...no need to kill the fish for a silly plug.

4. Don't bore me with "formula fish" as everybody knows the average fisherman can't measure a fish correctly anyways and thus, the "formula" is essentially meaningless to me...:hee:

5. Largest fish by weight will get a BB custom plug of your choice. In the event of a tie for weight, I'll go by length.

piemma 04-25-2010 06:49 AM

So you have been making plugs for what....3 months? Now they are the "prize" in your your tournament.:fishin:
Mike I am shocked and dismayed by this blatant ego-manical attempt to become one of the plug maker elite.:rotf2::rotf2::rotf2:

Its either one of my plugs or a pack of rusty eel hooks as its all I have left in my inventory.

Actually, I was going to award one of Numbskull's darters as a prize and claim it as my own work...

Alas, I hope the paint and epoxy will stay on these things for a few more weeks so I can get rid of them...:alright:

Now get out there and catch something noteworthy, all of you..:fishin:

Well, he has swayed from the dark side, whadyaexpect? Actually this is good, they will be very rare when he wakes up.

I will add to that prize with the elusive S-B welcome kit; Anatomy shirt (only few sizes remaining), S-B sticker, and BackBeach's 7 Mile River Hot Spots Manual.

Mike - just because people will ask :tooth: - Biggest = ??? - Weight, Length, girth next to skinny dude? Open to BB interpretation :buds: ?

Biggest by weight, ties broken by length.

Pics should be taken if possible so you can bust the stones of all your fellow S-B ers.

MarshCappa 04-25-2010 09:50 AM

This contest seems like it is discriminating against short but girthy people:jump1:!

NIB 04-25-2010 02:48 PM

Can NIB have ten rounds in the seventies by May 15th...:rotf2:

numbskull 04-25-2010 03:28 PM

NIB in the seventies???? Too bad they don't make a foot wedge for fishing or he'd still be at it.

once again, another example of anti-boat discrimination. What doesnt kill me only makes me stronger.....

Yeah, boat fishing is easy

Tagger 04-25-2010 06:39 PM

Well, you get the "Numbskull" prize for being the first to submit something and also for being a good sport...now where did I put those eel hooks?

I think I'm going to offer up a feathered 6/0 siwash for the first sea robin too.

Keep em coming...

For May 1st this one felt like a decent fish. 33", maybe 12-13 lbs.
Buzzards Bay. Go get 'em, they're there.

Back Beach 05-02-2010 04:49 AM

Nice one George. I've been battling temptation, maybe tonight...

Now somebody catch this guy before he runs away with one of my plugs!!!

If someone doesn't put up a fish soon and knock this ringer off, I'm going to start entering my own catches. I'll be damned if he thinks he's getting another one of my plugs..
