Can Anyone guess the weight of this fish???

tattoobob 08-20-2010 04:05 PM

18 pounds

JohnR 08-20-2010 04:11 PM

Big dude, crappy cell camera (yeh, its night).

Hard to say, hard to tell how far it is out from the guy. Long fish, hard to figure out how fat and easy to fall into a wide range. Doesn't look like a trophy (north of 50) from the pic.

numbskull 08-20-2010 04:19 PM

About 32". 15 lbs?

bassballer 08-20-2010 04:39 PM

32lbs

Slipknot 08-20-2010 04:40 PM

ya I can guess, are you saying it's a trophy?

most likely I'll be wrong because of the lousy pose and picture quality.

my 1st thought was as tattoobob, 18 pounds
but it could be over 20 pounds I suppose
I'll go with 17 pounds
I assume it's dead right

CowHunter 08-20-2010 04:43 PM

This fish was caught the other night by Onthewater tournament fisherman Greg Meyerson... Official weight was somewhere between 68 and 69 lbs...

wader-dad 08-20-2010 04:58 PM

The guys holding the fish must be Andre the Giants twin brother. I can;t see how that is possible. No way.

Nebe 08-20-2010 05:02 PM

lead belly

Slipknot 08-20-2010 05:05 PM

wow
fire the photographer

redlite 08-20-2010 05:20 PM

What's that. 3 60#ers for him this year now then?
Crazy.

redlite 08-20-2010 05:21 PM

.........And why does the pic say it was takin in 2008? Camera date not set right?

numbskull 08-20-2010 05:35 PM

18-20" elbow-finger tip ???

Yup.
That fish, judging by the man's arm, is 48inches max.

intrepid24 08-20-2010 05:48 PM

wow, is all i can say. i know my camera phone sux, and doesnt do a nice fish justice.
thanks for the pic, kenny.

Swimmer 08-20-2010 06:21 PM

7.83 #'s, fish pic looks magnified................oops!!!!!!!!!! now I got it. Well then again on second glance. It might be a keeper.

Fly Rod 08-20-2010 06:23 PM

I don't believe it

25-30 even tho the picture is not that great. It has a good gerth. It may be a 40-46 inch fish.

Frankiesurf 08-20-2010 07:22 PM

Judging by the hand/arm length and girth I would say 25 pounds-ish. Unless those guys are freakishly tall, then I would say 26 pounds.

The head looks much larger than it is due to the cut up gills

MAKAI 08-20-2010 08:00 PM

Sure it is.
And socialism is good for us too.

JohnnyD 08-20-2010 09:17 PM

That fish wouldn't look almost 70# even if I were holding it.

Aren't the fish suppose to looked bigger when you hold the fish at arms length towards the camera?

If its a cell phone camera then the date and time sync up to the carrier network.....

BigFish 08-21-2010 12:10 AM

35 pounds maybe....40 at most!!!

DeadlyRichard 08-21-2010 12:23 AM

looks way too small to weigh that much...
But in fairness, maybe he caught it on the new Point Jude "12inch Kow-Hunt-R Kast-Iron Skillet" (240 ounce) and the big girl swallowed it.
Or has anyone done the math?
Maybe in 2008 pounds weighed more than they do today & when you account for inflation, it MIGHT just work out in todays pounds...

ivanputski 08-21-2010 01:29 AM

If that fish is 60+ where's the other half??? 35 pounds by my experience...

JakeF 08-21-2010 07:01 AM

No f'n way.

I've caught more than one 50lb+ fish (all released) and the fish in that photo doesn't look to have crossed that mark.
I can't see it being any where close to 68-69lbs.

For comparison, this fish barely broke the 30lb mark at 46"
I'm 6'3" and not holding the fish out...

rizzo 08-22-2010 03:48 PM

I made a post last year about situations like these...

rizzo 08-22-2010 03:50 PM

Why would you hold the fish like that anyway?

StriperZ 08-22-2010 09:10 PM

This is one was 24 lbs.
