Hey,
I'm pretty much going along with what everyone else is saying; a 320 GTI or Jigmaster with dacron backing and 4 or 5 colors of 45lb or 60lb leadcore matched with a medium action boat rod with heavy duty guides (Silicon Carbide are best) to withstand the abuse of the leadcore is best. AS for leaders, 6-8 feet of 50lb or 60lb fluorocarbon is best; if you use too long of a leader, the general rule of 1 color for every 5 feet of water depth with be useless, since mono floats and will make the tube rise in the water column.
Regarding tubes, the best tubes are without a doubt the Santini Tubes, made by pete santini over at Fishing FINatics in everett. These tubes simply outfish any other tube I have ever fished, even the heat of summer. I have caught many fish over 40 inches on these, and got my biggest ever, a 44 inch, 34lb specimen, on a purple one two days ago. A huge seaworm will definitely outfish a smaller one. Peter is the absolute authority on tube-and-worming; stop by his shop, and he'll hook you up.
Hope this helps.
