I understand Parker 23's feelings but experience has taught me that its your own fault for telling someone. If they repeat something you told them , the bottom line is that its was your own fault for talking about it in the first place.

The flip side is that there really are no "secret spots around here. Its a small state and many people know "all the spots". What people most often don't know is when a spot is hot. So while I don't get major heart burn when someone names a spot , I do get a little miffed when they blab it right when its still hot.

Talking about spots with friends is way different than talking spots on the internet. If mouth to mouth blabbing gets the message to 10 people in a month , the internet is more like 1000 people in a night. To me , you need to protect the spots access from the 1000's. The fish come and go. What's hot today is cold tomorrow but once access is denied to a spot by private property owners who are pissed because suddenly there are 50 people in their backyard instead of 5 , that access usually never gets restored. The shear numbers involved on the internet make spot burning here way more damaging than talking mouth to mouth amongst friends.

Lastly , I want to say that good friends are more important than good fishing spots. Do learn to keep your own mouth shut but don't get too angry at a frined who has blabbed about a spot. Its not worth it.
