Any MS tourney updates?

Anyone know if anything decent has been weighed in yet?

Fished from 7pm Saturday to 3am Sunday.
Ran into some big bunker in a channel of a b-way. Snagged and live lined 'em but only got a few chops in half from blues. Landed a 30" bass around 11pm on an eel. The rest of the night was dead, no hits on eels. I'm beat.

Took a ride to a breachway this morning, birds and boats all over, major feed going on out of casting range.
How did the rest of you guys do?

It was beautiful but cold night, alot of shooting stars. Did some live lining with no results. Changed location and did some chunking for a couple more hours, had one hit, probably a skate seeing how some guys further up the beach were cornering the market on skates.

The cookout / gathering was a good time, really great to meet up and gab with some new and old friends. Katie and I will be looking forward to next year.

The breakfast at the Andrea was great also.
I'm sorry I did not make it to the cookout, got caught up chasing some fish.

I had a blast. I didn't realize how much fun this tournament is. All sorts of clubs fishing together and joining in for a great cause. I left around 4:30 sat. S-B had 31lbs for 3 blues I think. I had a decent bass from the beach during the big blitz on Sat but didn't want to weigh in a teen size fish, maybe I should have? Those 10 lb+ blues are some pretty impressive creatures and put ip a great fight from the beach. Wish I could have stayed longer at the cookout but hadn't slept and needed to get to work. I had a great time seeing everyone again.

Favorite part of the weekend was hooking a good blue and handing the rod to a 70 year old Belgian Man here on Vacation to fight. He was ruined for the little fish he said he catches back home.

Vic thanks for the lift and the mugging.
Stew, any paint scrapes?

We came in 6th, missed 5th by a couple pounds and were a couple fish aways from 4th and not more than a few away from 1st. If we were to put a full press effort into this next year and organize ourselves as many of the other clubs do (arrangements for lodging and such, marking the calendar earlier in the year) we could do some real effort.

Lots of the other clubs give this a good push and have a good time as it is for a great cause.

Thumbs up for all that showed for S-B. Big thumbs up for those that organize this event to support a charity that can use more support

This tourney raised in excess of $1100 for MS this weekend, good work by all

Had a good time meeting a few of the guys at the cook out and the breakfast and it was good to help put some fish on the board for s-b all in all I think s-b did a good job for the size of some of the other clubs involved.

BTW - Shadow weighed in a 25#er, Tynan hit with 2 10+ blues, and Longshot had 1 10# blue - there may have been other fish brought in but I did not see any list since some point Saturday....

Thanks all!

Next year

they NEED to get a B&T open for 24 hours. for guys w/a decent drive. Coming back sunday AM to weigh in a fish is a tough call.

Agreed. I actually started talking to Jim KcKeough about it a few weeks ago and he seems receptive to the idea of additional weigh stations and a possible fishing area increase. Hopefully a few others sent emails too, otherwise it was mine he was referring to when he talked about making changes next year.

I notice your profile says CT, you may want to contact him as well if you want a weigh in closer to there. I've asked for one either just over the bridge or on Aquidneck Island as well as an expanded fishing area region including Newport if not further East.

Will do. It's not so much location, as hours. I had a 22 lber I didn't weigh in since It was 1+ hours to Weekapaug for me after getting home at 4:30 AM. A 24 hr shop would be MUCH nicer.

Don't get me wrong I was in no way questioning it's size... NICE fish indeed! Just saying it looks small in the pics.

Agree. I didn't think it was over 30 either. Photo doesn't do it justice. It was a very fat 44" fish. Bill and Dennis both saw it. Loaded with squid. Kevin

He's also a tall dude and neglected to manufacture a fisherman's image by holding it with extended arms....

Kevin - are you THAT Kevin? Nice fish. Congrats for finding one when there were slim pickings during the tourney.

There has been lots of discussion about using the Weakapaug Tackle Shop as the only weighin station. I was on the committee but we met last winter and I cannot for the life of me remember why we didn't have Wildwood or someone else.
I also am an advocate of a 24 hour weigh in. Doesn't seem like such a great inconvenience to stay open all night. I'm certain there would be sales of eels and tackle made.
I had someone call me yesterday and suggest that we have several tackle shops as weigh in site. With the proliferation of cell phones a code system could be set up so the Tackle shops have a special code and could call in a verified weight of a fish. It could later be certified or whatever. Also since this is almost 2007, how about using the computer? Take a picture at the tackle shop, upload it with the weight and, again with a special code to prevent fraud, send it to the primary weigh in spot.
Hopefully I will be back in the surf next year and fish this most worthy cause.

No boat, back in the suds.
