Nascar question
I watched the end of the race today, and Mark Martin was leading and I got to wondering,
With the "US Army" name on his car, does that mean the us army sponsors that car?

Though I like watching races once in a while, I'll be the 1st to admit I don't know much about the sport and how sponsorship works.

Sorry for sounding so critical but Nascar=America regardless of who wins.Who cares if the Pats or the Colts won.....we got to see it.America,I love it. I just got to experience what I consider a holiday. For others its the Superbowl for me its the 500.

Yup. There is a pretty heavy recruiting effort at the track by all areas of the military.

Certianly a part of that car is sponsored by Allah, assuming it's an American car.
It's a smart recruiting tool.

No TAX dollars involved.None,nada,zilch.The DOD pays to be at the track and all four services pay for their sponsorship.Like our military,
sponsorship is 100% voluntary.
All of us pay taxes. This you don't pay for.No more than you pay for the protection that you're government is obligated to provide.

And who pays for the DOD?
I'd wager the Average Joe Taxpayer is shelling out millions for this team.

as far as I know, each branch of the military has a budget for recruitment and the money comes out of that. The coast guard, navy, airforce and marines all sponsor, or have sponsored, cars. It must be a productive recruitment method or they wouldn't do it. no different than a tv commercial.

I'm sure it does come from advertising budget...which is funded by the US taxpayer. 5 Million of which are Muslims.

Thats Exactly it. The Military is run just like a business, they have a marketing Budget just like any other company. just look at all the commercials on TV.....I doubt the networks are giving them free Air Time.

To be honest, before today I had no idea that each branch of our military had a car.
Has it been this way for a long time?
The are a lot of house hold names on the cars, like home depot, 3m,dupont, GM,bud ect.......
All of those are private or corporate owned companies,
us army, coast guard, ect are not companies, so something about that seems wrong!

Wether they pay to advertise by sponsering the car, or pay to advertise via commercials on the radio or TV, who cares?? Its all the same.

I'll say this:if you thought Daytona was cool this week's race at Fontana is downright boring except to true diehards and I'm a true diehard. And this Sunday is a traditional leader tying day.....2 mile long track with five wide racing without a real caution can make for a fine nap.

down south
theres a little different mentality you see....
aluminum cans.....ya leave in your driveway...
so ya can flatten them comin and a goin
the freeway around Atlanta,Ga is a circle
and the trick was to see how fast you can
make the circuit in your muscle car.
and finally.... while driving your work
Van the object is to scare your passenger (me)
half to death by leaving your seat
and going to look for something
in the back of the van.
the van is driving down the free way driverless
slowing down with no one at the wheel.

Atlanta is a blast.Fastest track they go to along with Texas(both 1.5miles).Last year both pole sitters qualified at over 194mph.In the case of Texas a little over 196mph.
Btw Nascar's new website SUCKS!

F1 CAN'T race at those two tracks, way to fast.IRL and CHAMP turn laps at these two tracks in excess of well over 220mph.CHAMP had a problem at TX two years ago where a driver turned an avg. lap of over 235mph...the Gs were making drivers pass out!
