Verizon GzOne Boulder phone

After having my phone break because of corrosion 5 times in last year, id like to get a water resistant phone. This is the only water resistant phone available from verizon. Does anyone have any experience with this model??? It said it passed miltary specifications for dust/humidity/water.

Thanks

Lesson #1 Water resistant in the world of mobile electronics is not waterproof.

Lesson #2 Put it in a zip bag or it's gonna get wet.

Lesson #3 Military water specs are a JOKE. They are allowed to basically splash water at the unit and fog it with a mister and it passes. Most any electronics will pass these tests. Mil Std doesn't have provisions for submersible units. I believe the correct waterproof spec is JIS-7 if memory serves correct. If it's Mil Std 810 anything it's resistant and I think the JIS-7 spec says it's good for 1 meter for 30 minutes.

Buy something like this and keep it in there. http://www.waterproofcases.net/aqp-104.html

mine has been dunked twice, once on the boat ramp in Plymouth, and once in Menemsha Harbor, still ticking over a year later, big and clunky but works well, wouldn't try to go swimming with it on purpose but for occasional splashes etc it is much better than other phones I've had

Mine has been underwater twice in a swimming pool, actually had a conversation underwater..LOL I had to try it. When it's dirty, I put it under the faucet. Had it over a year now and still works great. I've dropped it about a hundred times too. Waterproof for sure.

I have that phone.have had it for over a year it has seen the bottom of my mother's pool, used it in the shower, and took it wet suiting a few times as well,I will call you on it if you like still working fine.At one point after wet suiting the phone would die in the middle of me using it might of been from the water but it is now back to working just fine. The flash on the phone also can be used as a flashlight.

Just this past month I've been considering the phone and called to see what I could get it for just Saturday, $99 after signing for 2 years. I have to have this phone as like my digicam, I need the shock and waterproofness or it just won't work for long. I'm all for the phone until someone comes out with a better version.

I also need a new phone.Mine has gone thru the gamut including a cracked outer screen and dropping in a pail of water more than once..I read some reviews on the G phone. Most seem lukewarm at best. One I did not like was poor reception and call quality..
Check it out..

I did see where LG is out with a waterproof more expensive.I have always been a Phan of their phones..

FORE!
It's usually darkest just before it turns Black..

I got the GZ on Friday night, $50 with 2 year, so far, a GREAT PHONE! I have never had a camera phone and while only 1.3 MP versus my digicam that is 7.1, I think I carry my phone with me more than my digicam so it can be handy for sure, plus the phone is just better than the old Samsung I had. Plus I now have my laptop wirelss instead of DSL, wireless everything nowadays.

I dont know about that phone in particular but keep in mind you can buy a few phones for $299.00. In my opinion you will have to keep that phone for a while to make it worth it, no?

Simplify.......

Whatever you do, do NOT buy this phone!!!!!!!!! Piece of crap wont stay charged for more than a few hours. Verizon says its b/c the phone is constantly searching for signal. BLah! I asked Verizon whats the use of looking for a signal if the phone if freaking dead.

On a good note, it has a cool compass and flashlight.

find another phone

Well, that ends that

it all depends on the area service, any phone will die very quickly if you do not have full bars...

I charged up my phone early Saturday and since then, have talked, fiddled endlessly with the phone and the camera and 4 days later, I still have 2 out of 4 bars of battery- 1/2 life left. I even had to program every number from my old phone, so I think battery life is a moot-point. Could be that in Chilmark on the Vineyard, where signals are questionable in areas, the signal blows chow, but here in Boston/Merrimack Valley/Cape Cod-mainland I have a great signal.

I only paid $50 for my phone with a 2-year plan.

This really isn't even a striped-bass related thread at all, but what am I to say.

Hmm...

So Bassius, how'd you go about getting it for $50

great phone

I had 1st generation of the Gzone and it worked for 3 days after my boat mishap in July. The flip top twisted and would not close causing the battery to continuously drain. The new one "boulder" has swam once and been exposed to wet weather many times without incident.

1 @ 32 Pledge. Our beloved Striped Bass are in trouble AGAIN.

I fished through the lean years and don't want to live through another collapse of the stock.

2 fish @ 28" is ridiculous.

Ok, you see, Verizon has a "New Every Two" promotion so they had a $100 credit toward a new phone, then they had some other thing were I got another instant $50 rebate, because without those two things, they want $200 for the phone with 2-year activation/plan.

Hey, all I know is I got the phone for $50 and I'm thrilled at that because I would have paid $100 and was prepared to as when I called Verizon, they confirmed that I could get the $100 credit, but when I went in the store, the sexy lady gave me another $50-off. All in all, I got what I needed at a great price and even have wireless internet for my laptop which is really sweet.

Chuck I have one, and like others have said it is a good phone, I took it in the water accidentally, and have had no problems because of it. My only gripe is I keep my phone in my front pocket, and somehow it shuts the ringer off all the time..
