Pencil Poppers at night

I overheard a conversation last evening. I have seen this individual a few times in the past. He seems to know what he's doing. He must have learned from a very patient fisherman. He was speaking of how well he did with pencil poppers at night. He said that he goes large quite a bit, using this method. Going to give it try tonight. He was very convincing. As he drove away in his 6 tone colored Camry, I just felt enlightened to have met him. Anyone else do as well as this legend seems to have with pencil popper at night?

I thought you were going to fall down laughing in the parking lot..leave my car out of it. Someday i'll have a mini van and drive around with the music cranked at 3 AM telling people how to fish!

I wonder what I missed????

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

Who says they don't work at night, black over orange or black over red. Slow pop and drop or use the Soups method, 3-4 pops and check the hair, repeat.

It's all about the V wake

I use Pencils at night as a surface swimmer. They have a very sexy wiggle on the surface and they make a very nice V-wake. Sometimes I give the popper a little twitch, most of the time I retrieve at a moderate speed, just enough to keep it on the surface. They are great when there is a good breeze in your face when other plugs stall when casted.

I never thought of a popper as a googan plug, they work for me night and day. Maybe I am still a googan.

1 @ 32 Pledge. Our beloved Striped Bass are in trouble AGAIN.

I fished through the lean years and don't want to live through another collapse of the stock.

2 fish @ 28" is ridiculous.

No, this thread was just a joke regarding a run in with an obnoxious meathead at 3am. I know people use them with success at night, I do swim an SS popper and do well with it at night. I guess you "had to be there" to understand the joke.
