FG Knot
Way better than all of the above (stronger and much smaller profile) when you can tie it in controlled circumstances.

It takes longer to tie, and it helps to have a tool (although there are ways around this) so it is more of a pain in the azz but the results are definitely worth it and I think few people who have used it ever go back to something cruder.

Search for Knot assist 2.0 There is a youtube video as well.

I've used it... and while it's nice, when fshing rocks where you might retie more than a few times, it's impractical (IMO)

I def have a new found respect for the FG since I took a 60+ lb yellowfin on 30# leader to an FG but it's really how well the knot is tied which gives you variations in strength. I have whipped up an FG on the boat quick to change leaders and pitch bait to sharks. No problem getting 100# + sharks in on them either. If the knot is pulled tight correctly it is rock solid.

The Alberto has flaws. I have a modified version that goes through the guides better. But still suffers from weakening the more it's fished.

I have also been experimenting with another knot that shows promise.

I have the PR knots on my deep drop reels. 200# plus sword and no issues.

Best thing to do is find a knot you can tie quickly and with confidence in the setting you will be using it.

I've been lazy out on a rock and spun up a sugeons loop to an Aussie quickie for fun and had zero issues.

uni-uni....then uni to the clip or direct...simple...tie it with your eyes closed

I am using the fg more.....especially with fine braid......allows a long leader which gives you something to grab when landing a fish that won't slice through your fingers...fish a heavier leader above...uni-uni to a lighter leader depending on what you need...casts right through the guides

I just use the uni to uni knot and I double up the braid. Simple. I have seen George tie that knot and I still have no clue. If possible I just have him do it for me.

I think the key to any knot is how carefully it is tied. Any knot where the twists are drawn down and one jumps and crosses the other is doomed to failure. I saw a video from the owner of a fly shop in Key West who makes a point of teasing, say, a lock on an Albright or Bimini as he's drawing it down to make sure this doesn't happen.
In the end there are the absolute best knots such as the PR or FG for use when casting from a boat or setting up rods in a controlled environment, but then there are the best knots from a practical standpoint such as a Uni to Uni when it's raining and blowing and you're standing on a rock or getting hammered by waves on a sand beach.

Once you master the FG you will never go back, especially if you doing a lot of casting and the knot needs to travel through the guides.
For trolling where the knot basically never needs to go through the guides I use the modified Albright as it is much easier to tie.

I am proud to say I have yet to have an FG fail on me. I pretty much retie on every outing just for peace of mind plus it keeps me in good practice.

I thought it was interesting to see that if you go on youtube you can prolly find 30 different ways to tie the same FG knot..... just have to find the "technique" that works for you.
