VMC siwash hooks don't bend man. If you do then you need a bigger rod
I buy factory direct.

I know they are strong as hell but they do rust. I like the treble hooks. I have had to swap them out from time to time that fishish does seem to where off then they get a surface rust. Still they are 10X better then any other hook.
I use to use hand braized stainless treble hooks on all my plugs but now they are all vmc. I still like the tail hook on metals to be stainless

From VMC
CLAW POINT SALMON SIWASH
#7172 SS
Open ring stainless steel 3X strong
Pinch the ring closed and you'll be good to go.
Tough as nails.

They don't carry the 7172 anymore Bernzy.
Sandman I would stick with the PS hooks, I've not seen them rust anything significant in the 1.5 years I been using them, and the PS hooks are not brittle like the stainless hooks are....but your plugs so whatever

I didn't know they 86ed that hook, too bad, nice hook.
If you need stainless go with the VMC 7171SS. A much better hook than the Mustad counterpart.

Bernzy I called VMC a few minutes ago to check that other number cuz it wasn't in the current catalog and they said they don't make ANY siwash hooks in stainless anymore.....just the PS hooks. He said the 7172 was more of a octopus hook also...

NO LONGER AVAILABLE per VMC. Whoever told you they still had them was mistaken....Stamina may have some left over but they won't ever have any more per VMC....
Jim I'm out of the 8/0 siwashes right now too, got 9's that's it.

your great salty! Merry Xmas to you and yours...
I got a email this AM from stamina...
This is a discontinued hook - VMC is no longer making them. They do have 4/0's and 5/0's left in stock - but no 6/0 or 7/0's.
price per 100 for these:
4/0 $37.35 per 100
5/0 $48.50 per 100
once they are gone - they are gone

VMC has discontinued ALL siwash hooks from 6/0 and up now
I and others are not very happy campers......
The 5/0 is a good hook, but it's probably 1/2 the diameter of the 6/0 and thus it's MUCH weaker.
You will start seeing more TREBLE hooks on the rear of lures now

Another option would be Eagle Claw # L208SS and the L211SS
Available from 4/0-8/0
I use these hooks, and they are as tough as anything out there.

The Eagle Claws are a tougher hook, IMHO, and they are less expensive.

I've used the Eagle Claws before and they are a good hook, I think better than the Mustad.
