Ooops - not me. But had it been a gray seal

Actually, I don't advocate shooting them vigilante style but I do feel there should be a legal thinning process looked into...

Maybe someone thought they were putting the poor little guy out of his misery? Maybe not......

Seal season would make a great winter shooting sport though.

Why even try.........

The people who advocate the rights of seals say not kill them and then go eat veal parm for dinner.

I have no problem killing anything eather for food or to keep the population in check. These seals are killing to survive, unlike us fishermen. If you don"t like them eating YOUR fish maybe YOU should release EVERY fish that YOU catch. That should help to keep the striper population healthy.

WTF...is this going to digress into another "you kill fish" dialogue??? Last I looked, we were on the top of the food chain.... and you want to compare my fish take with a friggin' seal???? Dude, I find that hilarious....

Trolling........
That one seal..
eating 10lbs of fish (whatever kind) per day (is not a lot, I've seen estimates of 20lbs/day) = 3650lbs / year of fish..
thats a lot of herring, flounder, cod, stripers whatever...

You sound like my dad, "kill that damn no good for nothing SOB"!
We're talking about a native to the area and who shot it, not how much it consumes or takes from the striper food chain.
The whole area we fish in, is so worn down. The slightest change in fishing or harvesting habits seems to carry profound effects. We must all do our best to release what ever we can to ensure a future for our hobby.

My guess is it was some bent striper that watched his mother get her stomach ripped out by a seal while wrestling with some piece of wood that she thought was fish....

Question

i wonder what a suitable round for seal would be.

handgun: 10 mm, minimum?

rifle: .308 winchester?

shotgun: slugs?

i guess we already know birdshot ain't the ticket.

I bet more dead fish is thrown over the side of draggers than the seal population of the outer cape eats each day.

Possible.
But do the math. Be conservative and multiply 3000lbs per every seal...
food for thought. Thats all.

It was shot by a member of PETA because it was scarfing plovers that the seal tricked into cleaning his teeth. The PETA member has been ostasized for her misguided values, and is looking for a safe haven in a fishing organization/club before he/she disappears into the moonbat witness protection program.

More fish = More seals.
More seals = More great whites.

Why shoot them now when we are going to be treated to discovery channelesque shows of great whites mauling seals in the not-too-distant-future?
