What I did on my Summer Vacation

Yes, I'm alive and well...

I guess I can't disappear and have no one notice!

Anyway, there were several reasons for my absence from the board over the past several months. First and foremost was work, my first summer working for the Fisherman was a major learning experience and it took most of my time to get it all down. But now that I have things running smoothly I'm coming back to earth!

There were a few people whose plug orders fell victim to the whirlwind that I didn't see coming, but I have made good on them now except for one person who I haven't yet been able to contact. If anyone out there feels that they are owed something please PM me, it is possible that I missed one or two, in fact I have two juniors that I can't place---tell me the colors and I'll know they're yours.

I will be building plugs this year also, but the days of special orders are over, unless they are of quantity. These onsies and twosies are what got me into trouble with back-ups, if I sell what I have already done--there can be no back-ups.

Other than that the fishing season was good to me even with far fewer days in the surf than usual. Entering my second full year with the magazine now, I'm trying to continue to improve the content and overall look of the magazine. As always, I'm interested in anyone who might like to try their hand at writing a few articles. drop me an email at the magazine danderson@thefisherman.com.

Hope everyone had happy holidays and here's to a heathly and prosperous New Year

Look for some sponsor specials coming soon and I have a few other things up my sleeve for 2009... stay tuned.

Yes... I'm cleaning my PMs right now!

-Dave

Welcome back Dave - congrats on a great job with The Fisherman -

I've been buying it on the newstands fairly regularly and will renew my subscription at one of the shows for the first time in more than a few years -

Bruce,

I didn't even take a summer vacation... but if you want a rundown...

June, was lucky enough to be at the Canal for a few days of that craziness... stopped at the east end and found ZERO, while I was cursing myself in my car for wasting a day for nothing, I looked left to see a lone fish break from the road near the run I decided that I would go an investigate... first cast found a fish around 35 pounds and it was fast and furious from there.

Later in the month I popped the big question to my girlfriend of 7 years, we're getting married 8/22/09 and NO I didn't check the tides first ---maybe I should have

Starting using a wetsuit this year and will never go back. Had one 40 pound fish in August, all while I tried to plan out the magazine going into the fall.. it was fun and a major learning experience. Things should be smoother this year---we shall see.

Pretty much everything in the magazine, with the exception of the freelance features, is written by the editor - its a freaking bear of a job. Fifty issues a year, most people would have flopped.
