I voted for seabass/tautog/fluke but I'd also fish for blues/bonito/albies. I just like being out on the water.

i'd raise catfish in my farm pond if need be
fish for trout
large mouth bass

but fresh water striped bass ......ain't going anywhere

so if tomorrow..all saltwater stripers disappeared
i would buy a place next to a freshwater striper lake as fast as possible..
they grow to the same size....

and there are no tides to think about

Personally, I'd invest my retirement savings in plug making tools and AYC. Once proficient in the art of plugmaking, I'd stand flailing away at the water's edge for hours on end with my many creations. I'd bend lips, modify weights and paint schemes, then repeat. At the end of each session I'd lament the lack of fish and blame it on the eel fishermen. Then I'd stare at the sky, fart a few times, then go home and sleep........

Probably just beachcomb with the dog in search of treasures. In my spare time I would take apart reels for shats and giggles.Maybe befriend other folks with similar interests and tell stories about the old days when fish were so stupid they would try to eat wood and plastic.

I picked bluefish. In the 1980's there were long stretches of time where not a decent size bass was to be found. People caught bluefish while pretending to be fishing for stripers, but they didn't give up fishing as the methods for each can be very similar whether from boat or beach. You still have the same hobby, it's more a matter of landing more of one type fish than the other. The abundance of bluefish also gives you something to complain about which is an important part of most people's fishing.

When I worked as a fish packer for one summer, some of the regular afternoon customers were four charter boats that would offload the catch of the day from Nantucket shoals. Early June was the bass month but during July and August it was all bluefish.

I'd do the Bucketmouth Bass thing, freshwater is good fun.

When I go visit my family in the south, all I do is fish for cats. The grow really big in some of those big rivers.

I probably would'nt fish any less and not drive as far. There are lots of fish around here and usually I can find a place that has no one fishing in it. I'd still fish after dark that's when I catch the biggest browns.

I don't do all that much bass fishing any way, They are ok but if i eat one a year thats fine for me!
Fluke is to me one of the best eating fish in the water! And nice and relaxing to do, So I voted for the fluke, sea bass, sucp, they all good eating and you can get some nice size at the right time of the year for each.

I eat what I catch, so thats what I target.

I would stop fishing for the most part, unless I had a boat then it would be TUNA. The only fish I really like from shore is bass. I would most likely move out of this state. I would fish seals from shore if it was legal and it would probably be a good fight although catch and release might be tricky.
