so graphite is conductive right?
I need to decide if my desire to go fishing tonight outweighs my desire not to get struck by lightning.

Graphite is conductive. While there seems to be some confusion as to whether fiberglass is or isn't, metal guides and salt water are also conductive, and I wouldn't fish in lightning with a glass rod either.
You are also conductive, and lightning has been know to strike water or nearby ground and travel to a person standing close by.
When you hear thunder cracking and no longer rumbling, it's time to get under cover.

it pays to be precautious
but then again...dont be paranoid. Lightening can come from as far as 40 miles away in a clear blue sky and it tends to step down
like stairs..-> to different heights....so you can think your safe but you can still be struck by lightning anyways.
