Which plugs in the Spring at night?
Hey guys, what do you use in the early spring at night?
big plugs to immitate herring? Black Sluggos? If you use things like storms, do you still use dark colors? I'm tryin' to get my spring arsenal in order here.

Go dark at night
Black Danny's, Black Sluggo's, Black Needlefish, anything dark and fished slow,
Storm Bunkers also work well when fished slow in the canal

see this where my newbie-ness comes through, is night fishing in the spring (talking April through Mid May here) even necessary? If not, is first light or around there the best time?
and what is the turnover? You mean when the big girls come in?
Last year was my frist full striper season and I remember being kind of lost in the spring trying to figure out what worked and when.

Their is definately plenty of great day fishing in the spring and at dawn and dusk but IMO the night time is still you best shot for as you said "big girls". If you're talking about North Shore MA the night fishing should hopefully start picking up in early/mid may. At least that's what happen for me last year. I'm a relative newbie as well.

I find at night I pretty much use the same plugs all year long.Mambos and Bombers, dannies, needlefish generally in a dark pattern but not always.Slug-gos will be used more extensively this year though.
When its light out I keep it pretty basic.Metals such as Pt.Judes,Kastmasters and Crippled Herrings.Salty's 1.25oz olive/white popper.
And squid imitating plugs too both night and day in the spring.
