I've never done it there but you could try a rig with a penny weight, that should work.

drift them though, don't leave on the bottom or you may lose everything if you are fishing rocks

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Here is how I do it. That is a 5 oz egg sinker. I use weights varying from 3 up to 6 ozs. Attach a 3' piece of mono to weight and attach running line to same point. I use a 7/0 octopus hook. Flip it up current and let it roll like a jig.

I like to use fresh sand eels. If they are really big ones I will only rig them singular. If smaller I put on 3 or 4 hooked thru the head.

I have never fished them in the canal before but Dave's set up looks great. I hook them through the eyes and fresh is the way to go. Fresh frozen is very good too but if not frozen right they will not stay on the hook very long.
