Fish I.D.

Sorry no pics (we didn't think fast enough), looks like a cross between a tautog and a black sea bass caught yesterday just outside Plymouth Harbor jigging.

Mouth full of teeth, mottled black brown really slimy, about 12".

Any ideas?

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

What kind of teeth?
Pointed like a shark or a bluefish, or flat/rounded like beaver buck teeth?
Was it a flat fish like a lounder, or a free swimmer like a scup?

If it is the second of each choice, it could be a tog, or a large cunner.

Thanks all and no wonder it looks so much like a tautog, the cunner's sci name is: Tautogolabrus adspersus.

We caught a small cunner earlier in the day and I.D.'d it right away but never thought about this being the mommy!
Lots of pointy teeth behind those sweet, little tog lips.
