Question: Can you bring gas containers on the ferry?

Without causing a chitstorm I was curious if you can bring gas containers in the Steamship Authority ferrys? I am staying on Chappy for two weeks and I was thinking of trying to actually not have to take the On Time off of Chappy during that time. I see work trucks pulling onto the ferries all the time and they must have plastic gas type tanks with fuel in them for all the equipment they use, or even just for a lawnmower. Just curious and was wondering if anyone here had the answer. Went on the web site and could find nothing. I didn't wnt to call unless I absolutley have to.
