Saltiga - spool support washer tweak

Had two nightmare nights of "wind knots". Think I've isolated the problem. Reel is leaving a small ( 1/16th") gap at the base of spool when it wraps.

Solution: Add spool support washers that came with the reel in order to raise the spool.

Problem: Took the spool off the shaft - looked at where the support washers go. Looks a little dicey to me. The washers sit in a kinda dish below a couple of metal dodads with interior gaskets.

So.......................,

Question: Anyone ever add the washers? Can you help a dope like me?

Thanks.

I don't know either Jim, have you gotten the manual translated yet?

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Slip,

The manual ( with pics) only says this procedure CAN be done. It doesn't go into any detail about HOW.

I'd screw around with it in the winter months, but I've got the heebie geebies about doin' it now.

As an alternative to inserting the washers, I'm thinkin of rewrapping the spool altogether and filling in that gap at the spool base with the the backing. Then when wrapping on the Whiplash there will be no "canyon" for it to disappear into.

I thought you had a spare Saltiga laying around

Would have to go to Worcester to pick it up. Probably have the same "problem" anyway.
