Smelting Report

An aquaintance of mine who delivers for Fedex and continually bugs me about going smelting with him went to the Brunswick, Maine area last weekend. Fedex guy fished one six-hour tide and caught 53 #'s. His wife was pissed he brought so many fish home to Carver. I just may have to next time. He does fish with five rods until they start hitting, then he only fishes two.

The average smelt weighs about 3 oz. so 1 lb of smelt is roughly 5 smelts so 53 lbs would roughly be about 260 smelt.....and man are they tasty.

Oh Sorry thats 260 River Kittens.....

This guy is a fanatic. Every time he comes into my work he has a fishing report.
Or he is looking for one. He is going to go back smelting I would bet four more times before the ice out. I was wondering how many buckets that was also. I'll ask him next week when he delivers something else. I'll also ask exactly what camp he rents his spot from.
