How you use your log books.
I only have two seasons worth of usable log to go from, but I have made sure to log other people's catchs who fish the same areas as I , as well as the tide the fish where caught. Is it a total crapshoot each year, or can you hone in on patterns that hold true somewhat?
I have found patterns from the last two years that where consistant one week apart, but the same moon phase.
What do you log? And, what seems to be the most useful info at the end of the year?

I use the TideLog. Coded everything and make notations in the book on the day I fished. Cause the moon, sun and tide is pretty visual in this book, it makes it easy to find the exact tide the next year.

Logs can certainly help you find fish patterns and become more effective over time. I keep it in the style of a journal and include a couple photos and jot down some of the funny things that happen (like when a buddy caught a load in the face from a gull). I try document it all.
