Baits for herring

What baits should I use on a sabaki rig for herrings? seaworms, squids, clam strips, or frozen shrimp strips?

I use them as is for mackeral, I've only caught herring on a hook by accident. But I suppose a bit of any baits you mentioned couldn't hurt.

YOU DON'T NEED ANY BAIT ON THE HOOKS JUST USE IT AS IT IS.
BUT JUST JIG IT SLOWLY. THAT HOW I GET MOST OF MY HERRINGS.

Notaro---the herring that people catch on Sabiki rigs are true sea, or "Atlantic" herring, not the alewifes or bluebacks that are entering freash water runs to spawn right now.
