Couple of Musso/SS Designs in wood
My shop has been down all summer due to a renovation project at my house... new family room/kitchen and updated bathroom
These are the 1st plugs I have made since April
8.25 " Musso Wadd needle... my first black over orange plug.. Chef tells me that this is a killer color... I need to make a few darters with this pattern now
And a SS popper weighted heavy for distance casting at the canal... made it in birch and you can see the 3 diameters I used for pouring mucho lead.... 1/2, 3/8, and 5/16 thats a lot of lead... even heavier than Steve's new 2 3/4 red eyed version.... but will it swim like the real deal

Good choice of needle and color. You can fish that one with confidence.

They look good. You should do some Habs style poppers. Always had more luck with that style than the polaris style. Nice needlefish!

Tasty, tasty, tasty.
I use mine with 2/0 trebles even though it will swim with 3/0's. I've not tried a siwash. I like the weight closer to 1.5-1.6 oz. The example I copied must have been a light one (the intended weight was 2 oz) but they have fished so well I did not change. I have taken most of my night fish over the last 2 years with this plug including several in the high 20# range. Casts very well, even with a big rod. Mine have been made from basswood, but they cut up from hook swing very quickly.

I can make you another chartruese one this winter or sooner if you need it for the fall run. Any pictures of the needles in the mouths of 30lb fish?

Made 3 more Musso Seniors... a 8 inch troller version 1 , a Pine with surface swimmer lip(yellow) (Lefty 2 top slot), and a Deep Diver with Pikie 3 lip. The troller will be visiting Plymouth Harbor behind a tin boat on Friday
