flat danny
I've looked all thru the plug archives and thru my memory and never have seen a plug with a flat oval cross section. It seems to me that you could make a "flat Danny" and eliminate roll. You would need to turn it from three points on the head end and then sand it to make the oval. A topwater Danny is only seen from the bottom and the profile should'nt matter. Sort of like the theory behind a flatwing fly.
Any one seen one or made one?

I'm going to make one thats flattened the otherway, like flat back and belly.. kind if like a Frech "rabbit" but with a dannylip... I've been wanting to make it for months, just never had the time.

That's what I'm thinking of. As long as it still is round enough to turn over any increase in beam should decrease the roll, sort of like the difference between a catamaran and a monohull.
I don't have a lathe now but with one you can do oval turnings by moving the center. First you turn it round then you move the drive center off the center mark one way and turn it, then the other and turn it, a little sanding and it is a perfect oval. You do not need to move both ends, so you can have round on one end and oval on the other.
I think it would be better to just do the oval on the bottom side, it could be really flat then and still be self righting.

i was just going to use my belt sander, but i'll try the off center lathe trick- I cant promise I will do this soon as I dont make too many plugs, but its on my winter to-do list.
