KEEPER
Hello.
Me & my son have never caught a keeper. We have came damn close, but nothing 28" over bigger. Any tips? tricks? Are we doing something wrong here? Or do we need to fish, fish, fish, and keeping trying? I'm just wondering if our setup is right:
20lb > swivel > leader/circle hook
Should I increase the leader length? I mean I'm use the stock leader/hook from the bait stores.

Don't feel bad - if it wasn't for a couple of friendly guys with boats, I would still be keeperless. I am still keeperless from shore - but I haven't been trying to hard this year

Don't worry about it you don't need to rush I've been there before. Everytime I see somebody posting their pics on the site made me frustrated. So here's what I did I tried different places shore, jetties, rocks and after a month I landed my first 28" keeper. The fun of having a fish hooked on your rod with adrenalin pumpin is enough to make my day. At least your havin fun with the kids that's the best part nothing can replace that.
Keep your lines tight....

Keep your hook in the water and they will come. One thing that will improve your odds is to be sure to get out there when we get stormy weather and white water..the bassies love that. (of course be very careful around big waves)

Night time is the right time. Fish when ever you have a chance. Go to popular spots and watch others and pay attention to the ones who are catching.
