The loop in front does not make much of a diffrence as i was observing a woody's darter and tried it out.I think it is more important on the top angle and body and face geometrythat is more important on the action than the line tie.I copied an original frech darter and only changed the line tie and made it a single belly hook but the rest is all his.A true proven design by a master!!Its hard to try to improve on his design as i gave one to a friends father the other day and he took it that night and nailed a 28lbs. on his second cast.I also noticed on a woody's darter that the front is wider than the back and this makes the darter swim more than dart.So its all in the geometry as i wish i had payed more attention in math class.
