What is typically the best time to fish Jersey in the fall (winter) for bigger stripers?

Hi John
November is the best shore fishing month, but it sounds like mostly smaller fish so far. Lots of sann eels from what I hear. Let me know if you are heading down. I know some of the areas pretty well and have been thinking the same. Monday is day three after the full moon (a good time down there), and Wednesday looks to be warmer weather (heat wave compared to up here).

Lots of Sand eels in the surf now. Fish all seem to be 28 to 33 inches.
Most are feeding right outside the sand bar. Tin is in right now.
You have to cast real far.
Peanut bunker are invading the surf as well. If the winds stay in NW
the next 2 weeks should be good. Come on down John you know you want to. We don't serve Chowda here only chowder.

I think Dave's right, especially since I'll be away next week.
Lots of little fish around right now but nothing big that I know of, at least from shore.

If youre gonna fish of the surf don't waste youre time for teen size fish.... If you have a boat, thats a different story. The big fish just arent running the beach, just like the last few years. These are transitory fish on a mission, whole different ball game. Almost like an early spring migratory pattern....

Fished Fri, Sat, & Sun. 4 guys 8 schoolies. Plenty of diving birds on huge schools of Sand Eels mixed with Peanuts. There was just no fish under them so to speak. This A.M. I thought the conditions were perfect, N.E. wind blowing into pockets formed by sand bar points, overcast skies and snow flurries. Except the fish thought something else. Well we had fun and the area is all bout SURFISHING. It seems they say WELCOME SURFMAN!
