You bet they are! I just heard of bass to 42 inches on the fly...and lots of fish over 30+ inches...best day of fishing for big fish this season. Where? Let's just say south shore of RI.
Let the birds show you the way!

Bloo - Scotch - Clammer - they were there today... Clammer I got in trouble after your call but I went anyway and got down there about 2pm. Lost a 22#er or so near my feet, kept an 18 for T-Day, had a couple other bigger fish hits and thru back a few schoolies and a barely legal... All on the 6" Storm on the bottom, everyone else was using the small ones on top. One kid fishing there lost a 22#+ fish at his feet too.
Only fished for 2 hours. Sun was going down and the wind was HONKIN'. The rest of the people caught and released more Gannets than I caught fish
Ran into to Iron Mike and a friend of his as they were leaving ...

Fish were out of reach today. Got to hear all the painful details from yesterday. I hate missing action like that. Good to hear you were in it John.

The bass are still around, over the weekend my uncle and I took a 37", 34", 32", 31" and a couple 28" fish, we also lost approx a 38-40"er in the white wash. Nothing real big but fun fishing from shore. Fish were hitting between 8:00-9:30am

Headed down to Narragansett today hoping to just get the rod bent with some schoolies or something and I ended up getting a nice 14lber at Narragansett Town beach and the biggest of my short 3 year surf fishing career an 18lber at Scarborogh beach needless to say I was pretty happy Got both on the small storm wildeye shads. Just follow the birds

SNS,
It was one of the of the 4" ones. I think they call it the "shiner" color. Its got a greyish/black look to it. First time I ever used that color and its safe to say I will use it again real soon
