tog talk
so when we were coming in on monday we were talking to a group of divers and they said they have been seeing alot of big tog in good numbers in my neck of the woods. i catch them as bycatch once in a while while striper fishing, but most people don't target them up here. i may go looking for them on sat and see what's what. anyone been catching any?

If this really materializes, and while I have some commitments to take my kid college visiting this fall, if it works out...I would be willing to take a couple SB'ers to experience the thrill of toggin in BB. I could swing into woods hole for a pickup.

I like 3rd week in oct because last year the run was very early...guys were killing them in Sept. My best trip last year I think was in mid Oct. Also, I find as the season gets later they move further out to the outter reefs. I was fishing at the mouth of BB in mid oct and it was great. The comm guys were fishing up near Cleveland Ledge in Sept and limiting out. Also there is a better chance for a half way decent weather day in oct, once Nov comes...you need to pick-em.
Frankly I think the hardest thing will be to get the weather to cooperate. when it is blowin 25 the mouth of BB ain't exactly pretty...I still will fish but you better bring your rubbers.
I like this thread...I ran down after a late dinner to check to see if there is any interest in this..

Toggin' is a blast... Use my patented hook set to launch 'em outta the water!
I've always done it as a spring thing though... Is it that much better in the fall?

I don't think there is any need to ferry anyone (in the wrong direction). I could swing by woods hole and pick up a couple guys since I am going in that general direction anyway. (I will have a couple on board already).

I need to get a bigger wreck anchor..the one I have was damaged the last trip and it is too small for this boat. Need to keep an eye out.

The only Tog fishing I do is off the WHOI pier in spring. I'd be interested, Chris maybe? I'm not too proud to beg. although I am very shy and have no social skills
