A few small bluefin are being taken, not many fish and not by many boats, at least in RI. No decent sized fish that I've heard of yet.

fished south of BI today and got a few decent fish. two in the mid 40 pound range and a 65, all bluefin. was down around the 750 line in 70 degree water. didn't see one boat all day. nice out there but a little foggy.

There are bigger ones, too.
Missed the latest trip. Friend who's a commercial was down south at the canyons and landed Yellows (60-100lbs), Blues up to 400 lbs and released a Blue Marlin estimated at 600lbs.
Yipee, their finally happening !

This is an FYI article from today's Cape Times which is probably more for those of us less well versed in the art of Tuna Fishing. I'm one of the 89% who aint got nuttin yet. Nevertheless, an interesting read:

Went out after work yesterday with my Dad and a guy he's friends with who knows lots about fishingb tuna. Didn't find anything till just before sundown. Then they were all over the boat. I mean thick. But only for a second. Got two shots off with a 7" bunker fly, but they ignored it. Dad's buddy had a hit on a Creak Chub popper (Green). Fish took like 200 yards of line off the Penn 5500 in seconds, then he was off. Man it got my blood flowing!!! We couldn't have been more then 1/2 mile off Scituate Harbor!!!

Not my fault. There was a picket line of boats on the line betweem Minot's and Pt. Allerton, but it wasn't guys who read the internet. I know half those Cohasset boats and most of em don't read.
I only saw one pod blow up today and that was a mile away from me. Didn't hear much on radio chatter, but a guy at hte dock said two boats had fish. Word is definitel y out.

DF,
By 750 line do you mean 125 fathoms? I think that's a bit far out for me, but hoe far weould you say it is in miles from BI to where you are referring to?
Any recent updates on the tuna? I hear they are very strong now east of Chatum. Any reports from Cox, Dump, Finders, etc?

If a report says no fish, the place must be loaded with fish.

I think Larry's needs to do a little homework before they start making statements like that. Call a few restaurants over here boys. The red meat that is prepared seared is most certainly not angus !
