Lamiglas

Anybody know what's going on there. Everything is out of stock and there are rumors on another site that they were sold.

I heard they were sold..ummm, about 469 times in last ten years
having said that, I would not be shocked at all.In surf they took a beatin last few years. But they have a big line of rods, who knows how important surf is in general sense

As far as their hit in sales, I still think the 1201M is the best all around surf rod. Battle tested.

Last week or so I was looking at surf rods at a local shop and the owner was willing to give a good deal on a couple lamis he had in stock. He told me all the new rods will be going up in price there he said a owner son is taking over and expect changes. Take it for whats it worth but it is a decent up and coming tackle shop.

They put a heavy presence at the shows this yr with a full line of rods an some new stuff. My feeling from talkin to them was that prices were going up but the reason I felt for that is they seem to have the impression that just the name makes them good don't worry about the lack of follow up on warrentees an lack of service in general.
Sad part is that is becoming the industry way not like it used to be with backin your product up.

The son John Posey was a national Manager for years. Did a really good job in the surf with GSB, Arra and other stuff. Had Alberto and everyone else selling and promoting rods for them. Not sure what happened but John left few years ago and his father took over again. Since they had Alberto Extreme debacle, another debacle in Infinity, GS2 did not make anyone jump up and down and CTS and Century put a big dent into the market share. Al is fishing St Croix rods from what I can see on FB and many other supporters have moved on to other things. GSB blank where i fish, is still considered a gold standard of blanks for the abuse it can take and range of payload it can deliver

The GSB blanks are almost 40 years old. While they have a well deserved reputation, the reality is, their appeal is shrinking, and at best it only had regional appeal. Basically NJ to RI. They were never as popular at the Cape, and became less so 20 years ago when the Arra line came out. Lami kept the classic SB line going long after demand stopped. Maybe they'll do the same for the GSB, maybe not.

This is what pretty much killed lami for me. I love many of their blanks, but it is hard to put a ton of time and effort into building a rod and know that even the most unusual breakage will be deemed user error. I only had to deal with it with the two piece blanks, but there was a problem and they buried their heads in the sand.

No, no, no. we’re 30… 30, three zero.

I have heard the same thing from many, many guys. Without good customer service and a warranty the company stands behind, they are doomed to fail.
Lami could get away with ignoring the complaints when they we the only game in town. Now, with all the new rod companies, they have competition at every turn.

No boat, back in the suds.
