Fishing tomorrow ,hoping things are starting to move.
Stripers before dawn, and then bottom fish with the outside chance of spotting some funny fish.
There's always big blues if we get bored.
Sunday, I paint.

Whelen Modifieds are back at Seekonk!Hopefully I'm back home in time to catch the end of the Cup race and Jeff will be out front.
My hopes for Jimmy G on Sunday aren't so enthusiastic,he's going to spend a fair amount of time on the ground.
This weekend last year yielded a 30+ so I'll be squeezing in a few casts.

Jack's 5th birthday is today, so I spent 4 hours putting together a fish tank for him.
Tomorrow probably take a trip to Thomas land.
Sunday take it easy, as I have to be at MGH at 8 on Monday. Oh joy!
Wishing I was fishing.

Chasing footballs (albies) on Saturday & Sunday morning
Going to keep on this big school of mullet I've found and keep fishing hard, took some solid 20lb fish the last 3 nights on skin plugs and surface metal lips in skinny water
Mullet showed up after the storm and are real early, I'm not complaining at all.

John, I cut back my football watching by 99% after they let Michael Vick back in, and don't miss it. I can't bring myself to root for most of these guys, just because of the color of the jersey. During WWII, if an athlete did that, we would not have stood for it. Now, we barely care, and for sure, there are no consequences for the guy who gave the finger to our military during a time of war. If that's a cultural leap forward, I fail to see it. Turn the game off, go for a hike instead. My friends can't believe I don't watch anymore. Nothing would ever make me go back. At one point, Tom Brady had 2 women that were pregnant by him, at the same time. That's putrid. I'm going to tell my kids that there's anything about him, that I want them to emulate? No, thanks.
Just coming back from a decent morning on the CT shore Have a small keeper bass for the grill, my 10 year-old and I will prepare that, and fresh corn on the cob, for dinner. Fresh fish and corn on the charcoal grill. Mmmmmm.

I think Bridget Moynahan and Gisele what's her face were pregnant at the same time. Why are you pretty sure that's not true?

Because those boys are more than two years apart in age....
And Vick did serve his time... The greatest generation would acknowledge that and say move ahead, IMO.
Now Kapernick is another story, along with the petty thug overpaid millionaires.

"Because those boys are more than two years apart in age...."
I had heard they were pregnant at the same time. I just found a link that says you are right, they are 16 months apart. I was dead wrong there. It doesn't say anything good about him.
"Vick did serve his time". I never said he escaped before his sentence was up. His actions mean he's a pure sociopath. I have no desire to put a single dime in his pocket. We can disagree on that, too.
"The greatest generation would acknowledge that and say move ahead, IMO."
Ingrid Bergman (spelling) was the biggest actress in the world at the time that the greatest generation came of age. She slept with a married man, got pregnant. The Greatest Generation was so put off by what she did, she moved to Europe. I can't prove what they would do here, as you accurately said, I only have my opinion. And in my opinion, if the Greatest Generation took a good look at what our culture looks like today (arguing over which bathroom to use) they'd wonder what the hell they fought for.
My point, was that a lot of people are complaining about the way NFL players are acting (in my opinion, with good reason). Well, the fans are the only ones who can do anything about it, and they can do it right quick if they choose to. Turn it off, watch what happens.

Funny that with a guy like Hernandez and a league full of thugs that Brady spreading his seed is what tipped the apple cart. Strange times indeed.

The list of issues is endless. Thuggery, domestic violence, drugs, violence, womanizing...If we all stopped watching for one week, and told them why, they would fix it, in the next nanosecond. Because all they care about, is the money. If we told them no more money until it's cleaned up, it would be cleaned up. There was a time in our cultural history, and not all that long ago, when huge numbers of people would walk away, rather than root for guys who behave this way.
If we watch the games, go to the games, and buy the merchandise, you shouldn't complain about the behavior that is tolerated. You are funding it.
I can't get myself to root for laundry, when it's worn by someone who is morally bankrupt.

Funny if you had bothered to read my post, you'd see that dogfighting was what tipped the applecart for me. I used Brady, because (1) he is still playing, (2) I presume he is beloved here, as he plays for New England, and (3) I bet most people here root for him, despite the fact that he's a cheater who none of us would let him anywhere near our daughters.
Turn the TV off, throw a football with your kid instead, and while doing so, tell him the story of Pat Tillman, a genuine hero.

Insanely good. Fresh striper, cooked over some beautiful, clean, pure lump charcoal. Corn was dynamite with garlic butter and hot sauce.

Jim likes to throw crap against the wall to see what sticks. He makes assumptions and puts zero research into his babble. I agree the league has problems, big problems, but I love watching. Especially with my kids, the oldest is a draftnik who just may represent these thugs one day. If Jim had mentioned Hardy or Carruth then he may have actually made a valid point. Somehow I predict a rebuttal where he will tell us all how right he is.

Dangles, I specified my reasons for using Brady as but one example (though one of my criticisms was wrong). Sorry if they went over your head. Most people like watching the NFL, and that's fine. But if you keep giving them your money, you lose much of your right to complain about the product you are buying. If you are offended by the product as I was, there is a sure-fire way to deal with it. That's all I was saying. For an entire team to reportedly consider sitting during the anthem, on the 15th anniversary of 9/11 for Gods sake, is something I won't support. Taking my kids to an amusement park all day.
It's always something to watch people who are that talented. I get the draw, especially if your son has a connection. Personally, I can no longer overlook the deplorable behavior.

More babble, thanks for proving my point. Out of two items you decided were worth sharing, one was about a guy who was a dog villain and the other fathered a child out of wedlock. Batting 500 is good I guess. Congrats and have fun at the amusement park, you will fit right in with the carnival barkers.

I am sorry this thread got so de-railed. You (and one other poster) said you have major issues with the NFL right now. I agree with that sentiment 100%, and I think that means you have good values. All I was trying to do was offer one potential suggestion for that, a way to act on those principles, which IMO would convince the puppetmasters to change things.

Wow this thread totally sucks, watch #^&#^&#^&#^&ing hockey
I went to Plum Island on Friday and came home this morning fishing was crappy there was sea weed close to shore, The weather was humid and the air was thick with little wind Friday the flies were so bad I had to wear waders with a long sleeve shirt it was 93* on the beach
Oh and I loved every minute of it I'm going back next weekend
Once home we found out some long time friends were in from Mn. so we picked up ice coffee and head over to see them, after that we went to Japanese restaurant for dinner now I'm sitting here watching Columbo
