Funny fish
So far it’s been a good year for funnies. We’ve been finding them in some odd places. We had a nice bite north of the cape but that seems to have dried up. The bonito have been huge this year. Monday we fished around MV and had sea bass blitzing with bluefish. Bonito were elusive but when the afternoon wind kicked up so did the Albie bite. There were good numbers of nice Spanish macks in the mix too. Bait balls everywhere. And we found a new productive fluke spot. Love this time of year

I'm on a losing streak. Been covering a lot of eastern BB. Can't stand the boat circus on the sound side (although it has become awful over here as well). Barely saw a fish yesterday and did not see one today. Missed some chances with the flyrod Sat but that is about it for 7-8 days of trying since my first and only fish of the season so far.

Took some poking around yesterday in similar haunts but found them not til late in the day and only had a few good shots. Only one other boat around but I’m also batting .000

Hoping to get into them tomorrow in RI, if not sea bass and possibly a tog or two. Was planning on trying in shore tog, but seems nobody is really stocking crabs just yet, so maybe next week.

I new I could get crabs at Maco’s, but I decided I’d rig up and hope for some albie action. If not it will be sea bass and tog, but I am really looking forward to a hard pulling tog and some fresh fish for diner.

Not happening this am (6am-1030am) for me yet again. Ran from Quissett to Hadleys to Nonamesset to Cedar Tree to West Chop to East Chop to VH back to Lamberts across to Tarpaulin to Lackeys back to Hadleys to a few miles north of Quissett and back to Quissett. Spent time at each place waiting. Passed other guys doing the same. Never saw a break and almost no birds working. Visibility was excellent. Checked from shore locally a few times this afternoon and evening. A small group of widely spread boats waiting off Nobska was the only suggestion of fish I witnessed. Other than west chop I didn't mark much bait either.

Pulled a half dozen tog off Saconet light with plastic, most just short, but one bruiser that will be diner. Had to weed through a bunch of short sea bass to cull a couple keepers and was hoping to see Albert but not one feed anywhere. I’m about to call it just east of the harbor jetty and mark fish do I dropped my 4”split tail to the bottom and let out line to slowly drift and bounce bottom when suddenly albies pop right around me, so I crank in hard to possible switch to a light rod with epoxy jig, but no need as I’m hammered halfway back to the boat. Man I love the fight, pulled me around for what seemed like ten minutes.

Always up for a boat ride. Edit this after I notice birds everywhere off white horse beach and I can see fish busting with binoculars. If I were 30 it would be a race to get down there, but getting up at 3 at my age zaps my desire for a double.

Funny Water Temp:
Curious how you FF Chasers think water temps affect your FF fishing.
This morning on the ride home, water temp S. side Ch was 65.0 degrees. Tarpaulin Cove, water temp 67.1.
Incidentally, that is 3 to 5 degrees cooler than 4 days ago before these NE fronts.

First time looking for them I was able to get one Bonito and 3 Albies. I probably had 25 hits I was not able to stick to fish. Very frustrating day
