I live in Burrillville, right in the Worcester snow belt and our schools are open today and probably will be tomorrow. Hell, 8" of snow is a "dusting' here.

cold air has come in more quickly than expected raising the conversion rate, seeing 18-20:1 all over.
The wind has pretty much turned to the North across the region expect it to increase in intensity as the low starts to bomb out and more snow

Measured 16" on my picnic table this morning here in Glosta. A balmy 12 degrees with the wind whipping but I would say only half as bad as last years blizzard. Cold temps make this powder ulta-light and easy to move.

I love this weather..even though I have to work out side in it and have done so all my life... it took me 10 minutes to get to work... normal commute ( with idots on the road) takes 20... 45 if it's snowing or raining...no idiots on the road and my only delay is a few traffic lights..I'll never figure out why people buy out all the bread and milk the store will let them.. get a months supply of canned goods.. have expensive generators in case they loose power.. buy the biggest snow blower money can buy and the lattest and greatest ice melter .. yet drive around on inadequate tires..on cars that belong in the carribean...I'll save the SUV's that don't clean the snow off their vehicles for another rant... 3 months until groundfishing opens

I hear you Joe. We usually make sure we are out of the essentials. Certainly no need for 4wd vehicle and if I had no power I would rub 2 sticks together and eschew the generator and just keep my fingers crossed the pipes don't freeze. Why use a snowblower when I could shovel and strengthen my back? And ice melt,? Silly people,it will melt on its own so why waste the money trying to prevent a slip and fall when all you have to do is take a trip to the E room.
I can't wait to get older and smarter.

Well, my 16 year old wasn't lacking good tires yesterday but the common sense part was ignored and the result was predictable. Perhaps the hit on the bank account and no wheels for a while will help cure what ails him...

With zero degrees on the thermometer, a friend of mine headed out to go surfing at 8 am... in a 6mm suit.
I get the chills in the fall wearing a 5mm !

Not sure what you call snow, 25-35 mph winds, with white-out conditions these days. I still call it a "blizzard".

Glad he is OK.
I had a bad experience last night. Didn't want to be out driving with the icy conditions but I have AWD on my brand CR-V and didn't want my GF to drive to and from work in her Mazda sedan. So on my way to pick her up I'm going SLOWLY through an intersection when a sedan blasted through the red light on their side and destroyed the front end of my car. The woman said she slid on the ice, but I saw her coming in fast as I was trying to veer away. Thank God no one was hurt, no pedestrians in the road. Thank God no one was in my driver seat. I was friggin' livid. The woman was clearly driving fast in the snow. Thank God I have full coverage
