That hurts. I remember the first time Nebe took me there I thought he was crazy, and that's with korkers.

This is inexcusable. When will someone post a sign that says you need the proper equipment to fish Beavertail?

Many years ago a guy by the name of Gary Bradbury died there. Navy Seal, combat Vet, and a dive master. It is one of the more dangerous places to fish in RI along with Hazard Ave, Black Point, Bass Rock Rd, all that area.
We fished it for decades without a problem because we wore all the right stuff.

Haven't fished those areas much and not recently but have always been a little uneasy when fishing there with a little swell.

So sad, my thoughts and prayers with the family..our sport is inherently dangerous, I'm quite sure, EVERYONE , here has had at least one close call,I know I have, some of us are lucky, unfortunately for some, the hour glass is empty.
This past weekend,a 22' bowrider went down 2 miles outside the Merrimack mouth, with 9 people( many have already bashed the captain for being over loaded) on board, all were rescued, I heard the boat went to the bottom, after taking a wave over the bow, although there are conflicting reports
Experience TRUMPS (pun intended) all else some of us have grown old and wise as a result of experience gained in our youth.. god speed to those that dont make it home.
Stay safe everyone, bad things happen quickly.

There are some places where 14 year olds shouldn't be fishing, even with adult supervision. Beavertail is one of them.

Father and brother bore witness ... I can't imagine that feeling of helplessness. There's no consoling that.. ... sincere thoughts and prayers to the family.
