well I got the 3/4 Alumin pipe for free from the dump 2 pieces about 12 feet in all
the lead I collect from everyone I no!! But it can be had for $7 for 10 # at your local plumping supply.
8/0 trebiles .95 each (cheaper in bulk I am sure)
Split rings .25 each ( again cheaper in Bulk I am sure)
Gas, and your time.
Since I got most stuff free its woth it for me!! And alummin pipe don't rust!!

Aluminum and lead, I am probably off base but wouldn't these two substances effect the water in some way?

Now these fish are in pretty deep water, is it color that attracts them to strike or is it the sound?? If it is sound like I presume wouldnt a jig that bends in half like a broken back rebel make all kinds of noise attracting more fish? Just thinking out loud, Maco I could use a few of them

I have to start looking for more pipe soon!! I am running out. I have a friend that has some Stainless pipe for me
The first ones I ever made were made with crome pipe and they rust up pretty good but they last for a while. I keep cleaning them up then spray with clear coat.
Then I started keeping them in a bucket of salt water till i got home then washed with warm water and soap. That helped alot!!

What size diameter and the length of pipe. I work on Cape as a machinist in the oceanographic industry and have access to stainless. I think stainless would be the way to go because you can polish it up shinny. I would be interested in making some. Drop me a P M and maybe we can do a little trade if I can get what you are looking for and I get some info. P.M.

MJ got the same jigs! Teasers use white, green, blue or purple bucktail. These tipped with a touch of bait = Haddock!

Red was the common thread amongst the tackleshops I consulted. Everyting from buck-tails to rubber shrimp. Some votes for white, but mostly in red.
May have to look for some blurple with flash.

Nice jigs ya made there MJ.
Light doesn't penetrate 250' below the surface does it? How can the fish "see" the color ...... LOL.
I've always been told its the noise the lure makes - clicking & clanking down there that gets the fishes attention.
Jigs gotta HIT the bottom or ya may be wasting your time.
