Proposed dates for 1st 2 legs of S-B C&R Tourney!
OK - mark yer calendars now! How are these for the first 2 dates for the 4 leg tourney?
June 8th - Rhode Island - definite & solid date
July 13th (or 20th - better tides?) - Mass/Cape Cod
For those that are new to the site - the 4 leg tourney is where we all get together to char some meat & seafood, chany fish songs, and try to catch some fish. We had a ball last year even with luke-warm participation from the fish. This year will be better...

Looks good by me. I'll try to drag along some of the CT guys like John S and Marc Z. Both fine anglers as well as good people.

Hey John, generally how do these things work? The 8th is the start of my week long vacation in Orleans , so just wondering about the specifics so I can figure out whether I can make it. Thanks in advance.

Sounds good to me but I also would like to know how they work? Do we all get together and fish the same area? Do they start in the morning and end the next morning? I know just show up and have fun

Guys...the two that I have been to went like this....
John and others decide on a meeting spot....in Mass last year it was the Scusset parking lot, and in Rhody it was Don M's shop.....We eat food, bs for awhile...maybe 2-3 hours....then a few guys leave for other commitments or whatever....5-10 others get together and go to a particular spot, (that is hemmed and hawed about at the eats thing).... ....others go there own way with one or two other guys...
It's pretty much laid back....meet up, eat and talk, and then do what you want.....and a lot of fun....

June 8th I have my cousin's wedding... of course, there is no weekend in June that isn't already planned out. Every year I swear I'll make no plans and every year the summer seems to get busier. June 15 my dad's coming up. That's actually cool, he's coming up to fish. June 22... ohhh, here's a fun one... my wife's girls weekend. That made Boston this year. Lucky me. I was informed I'd have the kid that whole weekend. Tell me that isn't the weekend of the MSBA boat tourney... I'll figure out something 'cause I'm fishing that.
July 13th sounds pretty good... especially since July 13th (friday the 13th) of last year was the day I caught my biggest striper to date. 13 must be my lucky number in the eyes of the fish gods.

Cutty Hunk is the next weekend. I'm OK but that might cause domestic disputes for some who are "Married With Children"!

Where we gathering June 8th?
BTW , the first leg is the best leg for the ......Strawberry Shortcake. The berries are in season.
Last year , with no fruit flying do to Sept 11 , berries were pretty scarce by the fourth leg.
I know it sounds like an unimportant fishing detail right now but come June 8th when your mouth is watering as you wait for a strawberry delight , it'll seem a lot more important then!!

I'm thinking that we invade Weekapaug again. I know we definitely want to do so for the fall leg but perhaps if Don is willing to put up with us again in June ...
mmmm - Strawberries (safer than Blueberries before a night out but not by much )

Steamers?
I'm in for that leg. I will bring a load of steamers if somebody has one of those propane cookers to boil the large pot. These are restaurant qaulity, no sand, yum,yum clams. Everyone will want to avoid the Charlestown Breachway as there is never any fish there the weekend of June 8th.....
