I fished it hard Friday night thru Saturday AM.. I had to go off cape Saturday evening/night, or I would have been back at it, but slightly north of where I was Friday night.
Sure looked perfect, real nice surf, and I could smell fish, especially half-way thru the drop.. managed a couple of "just keeper" fish, when I switched to real small yellow plastic .. tough to get it out into that surf.., but that is all that produced for me. Guy fishing down from me hooked up a schoolie, and immediatley was into a fight with a seal.. seal took about 40 bucks worth of fireline from him, before the seal won. SeaRat got the plug and the fish too. At dawn, my eyes were treated to seeing too many to count seal heads bobing in the surf.. just waiting...
I bet the Senior Angler took it again, he deserves it, with all his time in.
I just need more time!
BBJ, I feel your pain.

I got zippity. As I was packing to leave yesterday afternoon, I could smell fish in a major fashion. You know how your hand smells after lipping the first bass of the season? Like that. This is a sign, says I. Grabbed a rod, ran down to the beach, 2hours past high, perfect surf like you say. Sign alright. "L" on my forehead.

Couldnt have said it any better? Last I knew when I left Nelson's at 10:30 a keeper still hadn't been weighted in. I would like to know who won? Does anybody know?

Sad truth is no keepers were brought to the scale - alot of folks fished REAL HARD, hit many spots, took long walks, saw the sun go down and come back up. Zero, zip wad, nada.
Doing a re-do this weekend - 12:01 a.m. Friday to Sunday at noon, no re-entry fee. Only the one First Place prize though - 9' Ron Arra.

Do you mean to tell me that I'm tied with some of the best fishermen on Cape Cod until Sunday?! There'll be no living with me until then!!

Don't fret Fred (not bad eh?). The fishing for bass up this way, I will say as a Tackle Shop owner, has been "spotty" (does that mean stink to a non-tackle shop owner?).
Again, no fish weighed in by those electing to participate. Rumor had it one participant had one fish and measured it against the "mark" on his fishing partners rod, only to find it short by an inch. The next day he re-measured the mark and found it was 30 inches, not 28 - no buddy no more.
Oh well, the fish won, we'll try it again next year, maybe a little later.
